paranoid android
Last night, the lads from work were in Mother India's Café in Infirmary Street in Edinburgh. It was good, but busy, and a wee bit loud, so not the best for a blether - very efficient, though, and we were in and out pretty quick - possibly too quick - they must be used to a high turnover of customers, which will be good for business, but it felt a bit rushed - I thought the food was good, but one gastronome felt it was a bit bland. I might be my turn to arrange the next one - where would you go?
ICTChris
I've always heard good things about the Britannia Spice just at Ocean Terminal but I've never been there. I believe it has won several 'Indian restaurant of the year' awards. If I'm ever getting Indian takeaway I go for Abida, in Corstophine. Always hits the spot. I also like Kebabish on Dalry Road, more of a grill place but excellent food. I've also had decent, fi not spectacular curries in Khushi's on Antigua Street and the Shezan just up the road.
The new Kia Ceed
The fine dining Indian near Haymarket's the best in Edinburgh.
Scary Bear
The older guys from my work have their Christmas do in the Clay Oven at Morningside. I’ve never been but they swear by it. I was last in Brittania Spice circa 2005. It was good. Haven’t been for a curry in Edinburgh for some time.
FuzzyBear
Get the train out to Linlithgow and go to Delhi's Winter. Best curry I have ever had.
supermik
Just take them to Itihas or the Bombay Lounge. Doesn’t matter if they are good or not, easy for you to make a quick getaway.

Their Mixed Fish sizzler is my favourite dish, but have enjoyed everything we've ever had from there.
alta-pete
Slightly left field but try The Kukri just up from Haymarket. Nepalese, not Indian, but utterly fabulous every time I’ve been in.
The Naitch
Nakodar Grill just off Duke Street in Glasgow does a brilliant curry. Haven't been in ages so will need to sort that.

blackislekillie
Is Kushi's on Drummond Street still on the go? When I lived in Edinburgh for a few years in the late 80's it was a regular pay day treat. Best channa dhal ever.

oneteaminglasgow
Spice Lounge in Drum Brae is good, as is Omar Khayyam just across from Haymarket, although it’s been a while since I’ve been there.
8MileBU
Get the train out to Linlithgow and go to Delhi's Winter. Best curry I have ever had. Delhi Winter and the Ashmaan Tandoori are both very good. Hard to say which one I like better though. Glasgow is spoiled with good curry places, especially the West End. Balbir’s is very good, but for me, Little Curry House on Byres Road is quite possibly the best curry experience I’ve ever had. Their tapas menu is fantastic.
CountyFan
Glasgow's best curry house is Koolba. Haven't had anything near as good as that in Edinburgh yet but still looking. Haven't tried the place in Linlithgow, will give it a try.
lichtgilphead
Another vote for the Khukuri at Haymarket. We always go there when we're in Edinburgh. Current favourite is Heera in Renfrew. It's a bit out of the way, but just off our usual route home from the central belt. Usually have Chicken Dara Puri (medium curry with chicken breast in a lamb mince sauce) but every dish I've ever had has been excellent. Would recommend to anyone using the Normandy Hotel as a carpark before flying from Glasgow. -

Favourites in Glasgow are the two Mother India joints (cafe and the restaurant, although I prefer the cafe) and the Green Chilli.
