Most Rantic or Celgers fans couldn't tell you a single difference between Protholicism and Catestantism other than one loves the poap and the ither disnae.

Thats worse patter than what Durrant is coming out with.

Run of the mill behaviour, he will no doubt be apologising............for getting caught.

I hear that he has been getting grief from some punters for not telling them to switch off mobiles - this is apparently standard practice before Tribute Act "legends" get up and do their "its only banter, some of my best pals are ******s" routine.

In all honesty, who actually cares beyond petty point scoring these days?

To the cretinous element of their support – a lot of whom clearly turn out for these events – it legitimises sectarianism, which can show itself in pretty ugly ways. That's why we all should care.

Ian Durrant shouts out F*** the Pope, but didn’t mean to offend anyone.

Yes, that made me chuckle too.

He's just clearly a really thick bloke who went route 1 in pursuit of a cheer.

The idea of it actually causing "offence" in itself is of course debatable.  Either way, Mr Heliums is spot on in outlining why it matters.

LOL

"Meatballs made from minced off-cuts and offal, especially pork (traditionally pig's heart, liver, and fatty belly meat or bacon) together with herbs for flavouring and sometimes added bread crumbs "

No one gives a  shit.

It's the internet in "current year"

Man up.

This ^

In all honesty if people are offended by saying "f**k the Pope" then really they should take a look at themselves. It's clear why Durrant has said it and he's an idiot but it's just a dig to get a reaction in many ways or a vacuous statement just to get a room to cheer.

It's all really childish when you think about it, and that's before getting into the fact all religion is stupid anyway :D

My objection isn't that it's offensive. But it's a sectarian comment from a celebrity. That sort of behaviour normalises anti-Catholic sentiment and it should be challenged.

It is a sectarian comment, it is not from a celebrity.
