The F1 Thread

Classic F1 aversion to rain, though.

The radio messages were quite clear about the severity of the rain coming. Alpine should have been rewarded for going onto full wets rather than everyone else getting a free ticket to pick the wrong tire and get away with it.

If you are on the wrong tyre for the rain it's up to you to slow down and get back to the pit, not have race control bail you out.

There were literal rivers flowing over the straight, no way they could've continued racing.

Plus the safety car would have been on its way out anyway for the crash.

I agree though that it's a bit unfortunate for Ocon.

I have no sympathy for teams choosing the wrong tyre, though.

Everyone knew rain heavier than the start of the race was coming yet chose to go onto inters.

F1 is boring as it is right now with the dominance of RB without nullifying the need for teams to make the correct tactical decisions when presented with a decision to make.

Being on the extreme wet wouldn't have made any difference.

A bit of standing water on a straight isn't as big an issue than at a corner, though.

But this completely ignores that every team besides Alpine made a tactical error by putting inters on, and yet are completely bailed out.

Also, If drivers on softs were able to slow down on lap 2 because they knew they wouldn't have enough grip, drivers on inters should be factoring that in when its full wet conditions and you're on inters.

The fact there was an Alfa in the barrier at the spot everyone was firing into as well.

Red flag was the only option

Nah man you just don't get it, F1 is just scared of a little rain nowadays. Not like the good old days when drivers were dying every other race.
