flyingscot Posted yesterday at 08:21 Share Posted yesterday at 08:21 Haven't see Lawson in from Singapore, but talk online about his contract is that Red Bull have to offer a seat by mid-September or he is released.
CityDave94 Posted yesterday at 11:04 Share Posted yesterday at 11:04 I've seen in media, Lawson in from the USgp til' the end of season, but there are rumours in the media, strong ones from withing the team that Lawson could be in the car for Singapore. The idea is now that Ricciardo hasn't done enough to beat Tsunoda and time has ran out. Tsunoda has had the better of him most races, when the original point of this was to evaluate Ricciardo against Tsunoda to replace Perez at Red Bull. Might as well put Lawson in the car asap and give him a chance to gain more experience looking forward to next season. With Perez staying and now rumours of Verstappen heading off to Mercedes (2026), Red Bull are wanting two experienced drivers to evaluate and be ready to move over to Red Bull if Verstappen does decide to move. Also Perez has underpreformed and the consistancy in these performances point to a decline and this decline will only get worse the longer it continues, so even both drivers currently at RB have a chance claiming both seats for 2026. Added to that is the decline in Red Bull going from a dominating position to a car that look more like getting nothing better than podiums with Adrian Newey away and huge management reshuffle. Their stock is not as high as it was this time last season. Less attractive to the top drivers.
CityDave94 Posted yesterday at 11:09 Share Posted yesterday at 11:09 (edited) New one off liveries for Singapore, Red Bull have abandoned their fan designs due weight concerns. There's supposed to be a one off livery for McLaren to add as well. Edited yesterday at 11:15 by CityDave94

The Golden God Posted yesterday at 16:21 Share Posted yesterday at 16:21 Ralf Schumacher now saying that Lawson is replacing Ricciardo after Singapore as well, to me it would make more sense to get rid of Perez and give Tsunoda a shot in the Red Bull, he’s been better than Ricciardo and the constructors title is gone so might as well see what he’s got.

There's management reshuffles going on just now at Red Bull so the current driver line up might be under threat next season. Its unusual that Red Bull give the dreaded 'vote of confidence' to a driver and that driver not only survives without with out any improvement in performance but gets another contract, especially when Red Bull have such a reputation for being ruthless and cutting drivers from the driver programs. Where is the line drawn where Perez is costing the team points and the money he brings the team is not enough to cover any damage done? Plus can anyone imagine a declining Sergio Perez as team leader if Verstappen goes elsewhere in 2026? Tsunoda has been massive in pulling RB up the grid and score points, same last season, he's improved a lot. It will be good next season also that he'll have a team mate that can consistantly push him, see if he can raise the performance bar up a level.
scottsdad
I wouldn't be surprised if Red Bull are hanging on to see if they can bring in someone from another team in 2026 when Verstappen goes - maybe Piastri or (shudder) Russell.

The fact that George Russell would be one of the better candidates shows what a dearth of options Red Bull would have. Perez is not remotely good enough to lead a team with championship aspirations, and I don't think any other driver on the Red Bull payroll is either.
