Smokies v Rovers

Recommended Posts

That unbeaten run was starting to prey on us anyway - and when you get the big newspaper spread comparing our run with Liverpool’s, I knew the bubble was probably ready to burst. You have to laugh at the Raith accusations of an over physical approach, though the stats show we were a bit less disciplined than usual. Probably second best today but we’ve been a bit wobbly at Gayfield for sometime. Thought we had maybe over papered over the cracks in home form but clearly need to improve. Never experienced a run like that for which are duly grateful. Looking forward the second half of the season - still all to play for.

Good stuff. Had a feeling we'd win. Don't think it changes anything though.

Shame we've dropped so many points this season. If we'd earned another 3 points that would've put the heat on Arbroath.

After this crushing defeat to Rovers I can see Arbroath going into freefall. The Mo to do us a favour next Saturday. Dick Campbell to be sectioned.

Not as much as yours when you lose the league to a part time team.

So the leagues won by Christmas  congratulations Arbroath!  100% you won’t have as good a second half of the season as you did first half. This is only the second game this season we have been able to field the same team and look at the result today unlike Arbroath who have fielded the same team week in week out due to being lucky with injuries. Look when you decided to rest some players you got pumped by Edinburgh City hopefully now injuries and suspensions might start biting into the Arbroath squad  however all the best for the rest of the season

Full time players 10 points behind a bunch of part time players at Xmas,  Embarrassing how the mighty Raith have fallen, Especially when we seem to be such a massive scalp for them

We haven't been mighty in a long, long time.

Obviously hurting after your loss today! Glad the town of Arbroath came out for a chance  to see the big team in action today,

Not saying we will have as good a second half of the season and we won’t no but that doesn’t mean we won’t win the league and also we had are best CB out today so not that lucky with injuries.

One centre half out lol. We had 5 first team players out for most of the season and have only come back gradually over the last few weeks so no excuse for today

They say that the full moon brings out all the loonies and weirdos and that obviously included today's ref. We all know that the standard of refereeing in Scottish football is very poor and pretty abysmal in the lower leagues but today's ref took it to a whole new lower level, words cannot describe how bad he was and Swankie's sending off was just plain ridiculous. Perhaps he thought that as it was Christmas time he should be giving as many cards as he could.

Having said that we were never really in the game, we were out muscled and outplayed. Doris and Wallace together didn't work and we kept on with long balls up the park and high balls into the Rover's penalty box where any Lichtie was outnumbered by the big defence. The only shots we had at goal were more like passbacks. The unbeaten run had to end sometime but it is disappointing to lose it with a sub standard performance against a team who were more physical and direct. But still 10 points ahead at the top of the table. We need to put this behind us and get back to winning ways in the next couple of derbies.

Wasn't at the game but that's the first post that doesn't come across as completely bitter from an arbroath pov.

From what I have been told mcglynn had his tactics spot on today. Excellent free kick for the opener. As said above, no 'keeper would be saving that.

John McGlynn basically saying Arbroath are a one dimensional long ball team in the courier.  LOL
