I thought we deserved that today. Lots of nice passing moves and we created more chances than we usually do. Fitzpatrick was quiet in the first half but completely ran things in the second - hopefully he keeps getting his chance in the team, as we’ll definitely score more goals with him in the team than we will if he’s not.

Cardle was solid again and let’s hope his injury isn’t a bad one. He’s just a much, much better footballer than Storey. He could be vital for us in terms of survival.

Three times we’ve played Queens this season where their performance hasn’t matched their position in the table; so that’s nice that they save their poor showings for us. One more of those in the last day of the season at Palmerston might well be needed...

Not signing players early in the January transfer window could potentially ruin our season. This was always a gamble.
I don't care when they arrive as long as they arrive. Naysmith already made it clear we'd have to wait (and see what was left almost). Can't blame him if we aren't a big enough draw for players really. Glad he put young Watson on today as we may need these lads to come off the bench (possibly start) in the next few weeks.

Not really sure where to start with that performance. Night and day from the excellent performance last week. The defence looked ropey throughout. Every  time a Thistle player ran at us, which was often, we looked like we were going to concede. 2-1 in the end, but we were well beaten and it could have been more. A suicidal ball from Maguire, who looks like a downgrade on Semple, let Partick break away for what should have been a third, but it was flagged offside.

Jacobs continually gave the ball away again, not sure why he seemingly can’t complete simple passes. Dykes was lucky to stay on after aiming a couple of needless kicks at a Thistle defender towards the end - was surprised it was only yellow, but the ref was utterly hopeless throughout, rivalling the Queens defence for ineptitude. Looked like a decent claim for a penalty for us in the second half, and Dobbie was incensed when the ref didn’t penalise a Thistle defender for handball, after a shot was charged down. The biggest mystery though was why we’re not still playing now: Football occasionally threatened to break out, in between the constant procession of Thistle players rolling around on the ground in apparent agony. Never seen such a fragile group, or a team so prone to cramp.

It was chaotic towards the end, but we looked as likely to concede another as score an equaliser. Have to say that it was a dismal display,  though Thistle played quite well, theatrics aside, and cut us open time and time again. They certainly haven’t looked like relegation candidates against us. Losing Todd, on top of Low’s absence, is extremely worrying. The squad has absolutely no depth. The manager says he doesn’t want to bring in bodies for the sake of it, but we’re getting to the stage where quantity is as much of an issue as quality. Felt last Saturday that it was a golden opportunity missed. We’ll do well to pick ourselves up and give Dundee a decent game on Tuesday. Let’s hope the rumour doing the rounds today, that Low only has a minor niggle and should be back for Tuesday, has some substance to it.

Oof
Not sure what the issue is. Our starting 11 should have had enough to win it. Losing a key player was obviously a blow and losing another at half time topped it off. I don't think it was a ludicrous post to say our best 11 should have been able to beat the side bottom of the league.

And our best 11 would have won more comfortably. We all have injuries, also you were already one nil down at halftime.

I'm sure it would have. You're league position would certainly back up such a claim.

Queens played into some of those Thistle players going down, the lack of discipline was poor at times, they were very lucky not to have the player sent off that kicked out.

A game we had to win and we did. The game would have been over if Dykes and Stirling had been sent off, as they should have been, especially the former. Great to see the manager come over to hug all the players at the end. Thought we played really well today. Always said I would give him a chance till he brought some of his own players in and since he has, we are undefeated. One word tonight that sums up today .... Fitzpatrick was WONDERFUL!!!

Important win for Thistle today. In all honesty they could have more than 6 points from games against us given they were denied an absolute stonewall penalty late on in our 1-0 win at Palmerston.

There would be very few QOS fans who expected to win today though we clearly were capable of doing so.

Despite the defeat today we remain in the top 4 but the fact remains that beyond our best 11/12 players our squad is threadbare in terms of quality and depth. Our bench today had only 5 players on it and of the 4 outfield players only Bell has any more than minimal if any first team experience. That`s how it is so as things stand so we just have to suck it up  and to Naysmith`s credit he doesn`t make a huge issue of that.

My instinct is that our lack of depth means we won`t make the top 4 though a couple of decent signings before the window closes might change that,

If Low can stay fit he can be a big player for us though given his playing history it sounds like that may be a big if.

Low’s absence was a huge blow and Thistle were better than us in the midfield area.

We started the game well but after losing the Cardle goal we drifted out of things and Thistle could have been out of sight before we rallied late on.

Stirling did well ( he must have done he wasn’t subbed) and I thought Mercer had a good game. Marshall did well to finish as he was carrying an injury from a long way out.

League table doesn’t lie but based on the three matches against us it is hard to see how Thistle have struggled so badly as they don’t look like potential relegation candidates.
