I can't tell if you're being satirical.

If that happens, in that timescale, our wildlife is fucked. Nothing in nature can adapt that fast. Our soils will dry out and our agricultural output will collapse. Dairy farming would be over, sheep farming would be decimated and beef would likely have to switch to slower-growing, less profitable and productive breeds. We'll have to use increasingly scarce water resources to irrigate our arable land. Our forests will start to die. Our peatland will dry up and start emitting thousands of tons of CO2. Nature can cope with changes like this over millennia, not over decades.

In any case we won't have the climate Porto has now, because everywhere will have more volatility - longer droughts, more extreme heatwaves and more floods. We might average the temperate and rainfall that Porto has now but it will come in very different ways.

You quite clearly didn't read the report, given that it literally said that Glasgow would have drier and warmer summers, with the drawback of wetter winters, as a result. Yet there you are gurning about water shortages and dead forests, like an imbecile.

Another victory for your ignore button btw.

I believe in climate change. However, Climate Change is largely a racket and should be given no more respect than medieval apocalyptic soothsayers or people who stand on the street with The End is Nigh placards.

The only track record these corrupt lobbyists have is in being wrong.

When you venture out into territory like this sometimes I hit the Show this Post option.

The reply wasn't really for you, it was for others who may have read your post. There's no point trying to reason someone out of a position they didn't, and couldn't, reason themselves into. I think it's important that falsehoods and misunderstandings about the most important issue of our time get shot down, in case others think there might be something in it.

This is probably the subject I know most about btw and I've written reports like the one quoted here. You've clearly misunderstood it, which is no surprise.

Anyway, worth seeing the time series for rainfall in Scotland in summer and winter since 1860.

Nope. Yet another thing you're wrong about.

How exactly would you know this?

A more interesting question is, what evidence do you have for the claim you made? Specifically who is planning these things? Where and when have they been discussing it? What preparations have been made? And how do you know?

If the last year has taught us anything it's that government aren't remotely as ready for emergencies as people may think. I wish we were a fraction as organised as the conspiracy theorists think we are.

This is how Scotland does civil contingencies. Look at how little food is even mentioned: https://ready.scot/how-scotland-prepares

I think the post above about the Pentagon report sums it up well.  There are machinations within states, supranational bodies, NATO, Five Eyes and forums like WEF, Trilateral Commission, Bilderburg Group, Le Cercle etc that we aren't privvy to. The idea that the ruling class are completely blasé about the greatest issue facing the world and the greatest threat to their wealth and power is absurd.

There is now a fairly detailed historical record of the transition from Kenyenism economics to Neoliberalism, the deindustrialisation of the west and advent of financialisation of the economy over the past 70 years which completely disproves the idea of a passive ruling class. All of that can only be determined in retrospect, at the time any single event could be dismissed as insignificant and any claim of impending social transformation branded a conspiracy theory.

You clearly still haven't read the report, which is why you can't offer a single counter-point to err, the authors' actual findings.

But why let that get in the way of your usual, self-righteous braying.

Spoiler

When you venture out into territory like this sometimes I hit the Show this Post option.

If by 'sometimes' you mean 'on every single occasion', sure

Truly the gormless gift that just keeps on giving.

Imagine waking in the middle of the night to this.

33 dead so far, dozens missing, many houses collapsed.

Second-warmest June on record for Europe, fourth-warmest globally and July is looking hotter.

Dambusters re-enactment went very badly wrong, looks like.

It's not clear if this is real or not but regardless should private plane ownership be permitted, seems to me an extremely wasteful use of resources.

Although I will admit I haven't done the research behind fuel per passenger on commercial airline Vs private plane.
