Liverpool FC is delighted to announce Liverpool FC Legends will face Rangers Legends at Ibrox on Saturday October 12.

Some of the finest players in Reds and Rangers history will come together to play in a competitive match in Glasgow.

LFC Legends will be captained by club icon Steven Gerrard and will feature a whole host of Liverpool greats, including Jamie Carragher, Luis Garcia and Patrik Berger.

The Rangers side will be captained by Richard Gough and also contain many favourites from years gone by, who will be revealed over the coming weeks.

Jason McAteer, another player confirmed for LFC Legends, said: “I’m delighted to be playing at Ibrox next month. There are some fantastic legends in the mix so it’s set to be a competitive and entertaining game for the fans.”

Gough said: “It will be a pleasure to pull on my boots once again and run out at Ibrox. I’m expecting this to be a really competitive game and it will be an exciting match for fans of both Rangers and Liverpool to enjoy.

“I know that the Gers fans will come out in their numbers to see a well contested game of football and some of the greatest players to have ever played the game.”

A donation from the game will be made to LFC Foundation, the Reds’ official charity, which delivers a range of programmes and partnerships to create life-changing opportunities for children and young people across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for children.

Kind of guessed you would say that. Apart from that whats your favourite away ground Rab ?

Fulham always a good one Glen, like Villa Park, Goodison the facilities and views are pretty horrific but great atmosphere in the away end.

Was outside the cottage this summer. Never been to a game there though. Also been outside both Villa park and Goodison but have never seen a game in either.

Been to Carrow road a couple of times, brilliant atmosphere. White Hart Lane was brilliant, was at a game before it got done up. The New Den was also rocking. Enjoyed Hillsborough as well.

Some great grounds Glen. Always got a bit of a rough ride going in and out of the old White Hart Lane for some reason. Looking forward to getting to the new one in January.

Last season the best atmosphere was at the Etihad but getting very hostile. Funnily enough Huddersfield was good too never stopped singing all night despite their woes.

Striving for mediocrity with no expense spared, and succeeding beyond expectation.

If you take Lingard in isolation it doesn't seem ALL that ridiculous but with every player of that calibre who cements a place in their first team, they compound their issues almost beyond repair. If you slip 3 or 4 quality players back from where you need to be these days and have to replace them in a oner that a huge fucking deal.

If you have a team and squad riddled with averageness, the money and time required to bring that back to a league/Champions League winning standard is pretty much unthinkable. You just dont see how United can do it now. Its going to be another decade. Maybe more. And thats with good signings. The type they seem incapable of making.

The team that started yesterday was just awful, just in terms of player for player. As you say, there is nothing wrong with having the odd Lingard type as squad filler to play in League Cup games, or to play amongst a bunch of world class players. Ferguson used to always have David May, O'Shea, Butt, Fletcher, Gibson type players in the squad, guys were happy enough being squad players and could carry out a role in the team without being a world class player, but they had absolute quality around about them to make it work. Man Utd's squad now is made up almost entirely of these kind of guys. Even the likes of Rashford, their next great hope, would have been a bit part player in one of Ferguson's sides, getting the odd 20 minutes at home to Watford. Instead he is their main striker and he isn't up to it.

Man Utd's best team I'd say was their 2008/2009 team, which was the likes of van der Sar, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Giggs, Fletcher, Scholes, Carrick, Ronaldo, Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez. In 10 years they have gone from that to the rubbish that is playing now. Like you, I think it will take near enough the same time to get back. They can't financially bully teams the way they used to when they would just pinch the best players off teams, and there are more teams now who can match their spending. I could see them maybe having a year or two where they make some good signings and make a challenge - like Liverpool did a couple of times - but to get back to being a consistent force challenging for titles every season is years away.
