Bairnardo
...And they have given all that shite new contracts. Imagine actually giving Lingard and co more money??? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]Striving for mediocrity with no expense spared, and succeeding beyond expectation. If you take Lingard in isolation it doesn't seem ALL that ridiculous but with every player of that calibre who cements a place in their first team, they compound their issues almost beyond repair. If you slip 3 or 4 quality players back from where you need to be these days and have to replace them in a oner that a huge fucking deal. If you have a team and squad riddled with averageness, the money and time required to bring that back to a league/Champions League winning standard is pretty much unthinkable. You just dont see how United can do it now. Its going to be another decade. Maybe more. And thats with good signings. The type they seem incapable of making.
Salvo Montalbano
The burning issue of the weekend was surely "Why were Liverpool wearing different socks this week?"

Bishop Briggs
Liverpool have been hit by Thomas Cook's collapse. From the BBC live page - "A perhaps little known fact about Thomas Cook is that it runs a football holiday operation where supporters can follow their team. "Liverpool Football Club said this morning: "We are aware Thomas Cook has ceased trading this morning. "Thomas Cook sells 360 hospitality packages for each of our home games at Anfield. "We are currently assessing the impact of Thomas Cook ceasing trading and the impact for those supporters who have purchased packages from Thomas Cook. Once we have those details from Thomas Cook we will update supporters." -

throbber
Maddison is such a Man Utd-type signing to be fair. I think they’ve just recently diddled themselves out of Kasper (or any other decent GK) by giving Spanish Dave a new 4 year £350k p/w contract for being lukewarm at best for the last 3 or 4 years.John McGinn would be a good signing for them as well. Can’t see it though.

throbber
6 winners since 1992. 2 of which have never managed to challenge again. If ir werent for Leicester's freak season that number would look much worse. Lets not have the "anyone can win it" bollocks. Do you think having 6 winners in that time is that bad a thing? There have been different rivalries along the way, mostly involving Man Utd at the top but now it’s between City and Liverpool and in a few years it could be another two teams at the top. It’s not like it’s been a 2 horse race all along.FWIW Spain and Italy have had 5 different winners since 1992 with two teams from each league only winning it once also.

Its not terrible, but two are complete outliers, and you cant say we can't have a Leicester moment up here because it was a freak combination of factors that gave us that. The fact that it happened down there can't really be used as a rod to beat our league with because freak occurences are just that. You can't account for them. So with that said, in a 20 team league about which some on this thread will fiercely defend competitiveness, its not proportianately much better than ours historically, and is currentpy as bas if not worse since its 2 horses by a mile
