If it was being played at St Andrews, I’d be transferring my ‘love’ back and forth to anyone Scottish who was in with a shout. Need to cut McGinley a bit of slack here. There’s an Irishman leading an Open in Ireland, and McGinley is Irish. The issue with the Rory love-in is the same as the Tiger Woods issue. Even if they are shooting 7 and 8 over, and have zero chance, the likes of McGinley will still slabber over them, and the TV coverage still favours them, even if they are playing utter shite.
