Billy Jean King
Q When is a continuation of a £20 UC uplift not a continuation of a £20 UC uplift ?A when it's replaced by a one off £500 payment in April !Sunak is a devious little fucker. Announced with a straight face that the UC £20 uplift would be extended for 6 months and it was reported as exactly that. Just received the DWP circular and it's being ended from 5 April as originally planned to be replaced with a one off £500 payment in early April. The result in this is that the extra £20 is no longer disregarded in the calculation of HB and CTR. What a back door, sneaky typical Tory lie the initial announcement was.

If he was doing it properly he should've done it yesterday before the court case had actually happened...no need for evidence or anything like that for old Douglas!

UC is keeping the £20 per week for 6 months. The £500 is a one-off payment for those receiving working tax credits to replace the temporary increase in the basic element that will end in April. That differs from a DWP circular today And that surprises you? The DWP must be the most error prone department in a government full of them. Even UC which is a complete f**k up is made worse by the DWP either wilfully ignoring regulations or just being so incompetent as to knowing the actual rules. ETA:. This is from the budget report Quote The CJRS and SEISS will be extended to provide protection to businesses and individuals that continue to be affected by the restrictions. For those in need of direct income support, the government is extending the temporary Universal Credit increase and making a one-off payment to Working Tax Credit. Billy Jean King
Yip we have a "clarification " coming on Monday following a software suppliers meeting earlier today.ETA....If it's the WTC temp uplift that's being replaced by a 500 one off payment my original point remains true though. The temp uplift was disregarded for HB and CTR purposes so it will be interesting to see the regs to see how this one off payment is to be treated. It's pretty unusual for "one off" payments to be disregarded as we saw recently with the Scottish NHS one off payment
