tirso
i accept that Scotland voted to stay in teh UK and the UK should leave the EU. but surely for the UK to function as a union it needs to respect the idea that Scotland clearly does not want the same type of brexit deal as England and Wales. The NI deal should be given to Scotland as well. Why not? We're a family of nations supposedly. what happened to best of both worlds.

Malky3
The SNP had a decent night in terms of seats won but they have only managed a 45% share of the vote in Scotland with one seat left to declare. The Unionist share of the vote in Scotland was 54%. There is no evidence of increased support for Scottish Independence or for an Indy Ref 2. Indeed 1.6m voted for it in 2014. Last night only 1.2m did. Edited December 13, 2019 by Malky3

What next? Maybe she'll start directing chants to the Tories - "You're gonna get your fuckin' 'eads kicked in'? She's a politician, not on the terraces.

Bohemian
f**k England and Wales. Let them drown in their sea of Borris and racism. Yesterday was a vote for English Nationalism nothing more nothing less. Scotland said no thanks. Even the Unionists in Norn Iron lost their majority. Brexit was the first nail in the coffin of the Union and yesterday just cements it..

Black and White Tragic
That will come back to haunt her. Uncouth behaviour. What, one of her candidates winning election is not worth celebrating? Media will no doubt spin it as delight at Jo Swinson being defeated. Which is also worth celebrating the demise of the squirrel scarer.
oneteaminglasgow
I dunno - Nicola singing “oh the tories are shiiiiiite” through FMQ’s sounds like a vote winner to me.

johnthebaptistist
You are right I do not live in Scotland, haven't done for 9 years. I moved away because I knew that I could get a better career in England, that has been proved correct. The other reason for moving is the government backed neanderthal view on religious biggotry, again I was proved correct as it is not existant down here.

hearthammer
All newly elected majority governments give it a girfuy to the opposition when the commons first resumes, but i suspect england's new government will take this to a whole new level when de pfeffellll and his self-serving cronies hit the chamber. Labour got everything they deserved from this GE, but the rising voices from the SNP benches will provide the most vocal and coherent counter-arguments against this cabal of charlatans. Let's push for our own right to decide whether a new Indy referendum is the next logical step for the people of Scotland, irrespective of what the london-centric english government say.

Elixir
So the Lib Dem fluffers have 11 MPs - 4 of which are in Scotland and mine is one of them. What did I do to deserve this. So the SNP/Greens took 46% of the vote. Throw in some of the remaining hardline Labour-supporting leftists and a few Liberals, plus EU nationals and 16/17 year olds who couldn't vote yesterday, and it really starts to look like independence is possible. Especially once the reality of Brexit and the majority Tory government become apparent.

If yer wanna live in the country learn the facking language.

I would have agreed with you looking at the sample polls taken about 6 months before David Cameron granted us Indyref1. I'm sure even you would have to agree that the Indy movement has come a long way since then.
