Inanimate Carbon Rod
Universities in Scotland apparently suspending clinical placements for med students, which also means no new doctors in August because the final examine involves clinical skills and they havent been signed off. Government is either grossly over egging this or isnt telling the public everything.

DiegoDiego
Indeed. The Government is thinking about forcing Sky and BT to show the rest of the EPL season for free to stop people congregating in pubs. Sky offered to air Serie A free of charge but the league refused.
Diamonds are Forever
1 hour ago, Fratelli said: its also the worst tournament for it , as it's the first one to be held in 12 cities as opposed to being contained in the one country. Will mean fans are travelling from country to country That's true. Although on the other hand it gives some room for movement if one or two countries do not wish to host the games. For example if the Italian government refused to allow the Rome matches to be played, it might be possible to play them at another host city at relatively short notice. However if it was a normal tournament that had a host country if that government did not want the tournament being played, say Italy, then the whole thing would need to be binned. I think come the tournament the virus will be so widespread that countries will be past worrying about flights from other countries or mass gatherings. However I can't see how the play-offs are going to go ahead, most countries will be at the stage Italy are now at by then. Fullerene
This virus is certainly hogging the headlines. Is it just me or is anyone else nostalgic for the days when some other disaster got a bit of attention?

peasy23
Pure speculation on my part but does Italy have a much older population than China? Could explain it.It's a strange one. They were discussing it on Jeremy Vine at lunchtime and one suggestion was that it seems to hit smokers hard. Over 50% of the male population in China smoke, although it is much lower in females (About 3%). About 25% of the population in Italy smoke, while the UK is now down to about 14%.

Yes, the overarching and nagging question for me is, would ruthless regimes cripple or destroy their economies for a "few cases of the flu" ?? I think not and that worries me.
