The Woolshed
Hearing the 5 mile travel restriction back as of Monday. Brutal if that’s true

That would be even more brutal, but might as well do it now if you ask me.

If that wasn’t the case for the individuals involved then they would have survived like the vast majority of people. You're right, imagine how much money the NHS could save if they just told people with life threatening conditions to give up because their time has come.

I think back in March/April they got GP's to phone everyone on their vulnerable list, due to age or underlying conditions, to ask if they wanted DNR on their file and whether they wouldn't mind just staying at home if they caught Covid rather than taking a hospital bed. I said I'd need to have a wee think about it. Edited September 19, 2020 by welshbairn

D.V.T.
What I can see happening:- 5 mile travel restriction for leisure - No households mixing at homes inside or out or hospitality- Hospitality becomes take away only- Non-essential businesses will remain open with social distancing- Football will continue behind closed doors - Schools will remain open for as long as possible.
MP_MFC
The schools must remain open. It's a pure coincidence that them going back has aligned with a rapid increase in cases.Hopefully those that demanded blended learning be scrapped are delighted.
Bairnardo
As part of the "grown up" conversation, how do folk on here, in their capacity as punters, not politicians or epidemiologists envisage learning to live with this virus? Lets assume for the sake of conversation that a vaccine will not come to pass until 2022. Do schools, workplaces, hospitals, travel, sport, hospitality and general socialising.

Those who can’t work from home should go to work, no furlough unless your industry is forceably closed by the government.Hospitals run as normal and prioritise non-covid patients over covid patients. Covid patients treated if space allows. Potentially open the nightingales/Louisa Jordan to cope with overspillI’d advise against overseas travel, other than air bridges to safe countries. Properly enforced quarantine on return from a non safe countryHospitality: Keep socially distanced pubs and restaurants open but no nightclubs or mass gatherings. Nightclub staff one of the few people that should still be furloughed.Sport: Socially distanced crowds allowed General socialising: No restrictions, let people do what they like

If you need to wait 24/48 hours then you go around spreading it or stay in one place for 30 mins? If you get a test here you’re supposed to isolate until you get your results, not go around spreading it.

I'm sure everyone is doing that. Also they're travelling half the country to get a test.

DeeTillEhDeh
Levels of poverty will certainly be a factor. Can't be the only thing given that areas like Inverclyde and Dundee are not showing high infection rates.
Andy groundhopper
If people don't bother to get tested, (if they only have a cough) then you don't see a rise in numbers. How many of the deaths are related to another illness, and what age are these people ? Is the number of cases ÷ the number of deaths a really high percentage ? How many people have had covid19 without knowing, all questions that need to be answered.

As with everything, the devil is in the detail. And we get no details whatsoever
