Well, you can. In much the same way you can make it illegal to travel from Avonbridge to Westfield. Doesn't mean it'll be enforced, though.
jamamafegan
Meanwhile in the Highlands - Ironworks in Inverness to host first live show since before Covid-19 coronavirus lockdown in March; fan favourites Torridon are to play the Highland music venue https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/ironworks-to-host-return-to-live-music-with-torridon-gig-218218/ The Ironworks in Inverness. Picture: Gary Anthony. It's good to see also that 300 football fans will be allowed into the Caley Stadium to support Inverness CT when they play Raith Rovers. We've seen this happen up in Dingwall. Slowly the Highlands are opening up again. It will be good to get the Highland League back sometime soon.Glorious. The Highlands are the place to be. Nae luck West coasters

You can't have regional variations based on council area with a travel ban. As said above, how can you possibly make it illegal to go from Monifieth to Broughty Ferry? In fact, the quirks of the Dundee/Angus boundary mean there's a part of Coupar Angus Road where it will technically be illegal to cross it to get from one part of Dundee to the other, if the purpose for crossing isn't "essential". A travel ban only works if you do it by postcode area.

If you want to say Monifieth shouldn't be in Angus or Invergowrie in PKC and the local authority model in Scotland is shambolic I would agree. I'm more concerned with the 3 different people on my FB Who took a trip from Dundee and Angus to Glasgow at the weekend than micro transgressions though.

They bet the house that their exposure in the first wave would mean they would not be hit anywhere near as hard in the second wave, even going as far as to announce they were approaching herd immunity. Now its become clear that was wishful thinking, they're scrambling to rescue the situation. I don't think they really had the appetite to go through another wave like the first again. Looking at their deaths it comes down to whether or not you think shutting everything down to prevent this from happening is worth it. I agree with the Swedes.

D.A.F.C
The impact of test and trace is limited by the large number of asymptomatic cases you see in Covid. We can keep going through cycles of restrictions hoping to contain each wave in turn, lessening the impact. That will not be economically sustainable in the long run. We can implement mass testing, something various governments are now warming to the idea of, its been piloted in various places. We will see the impact in Liverpool from their exercise in a couple of weeks as to whether it accelerated the decay of the virus. We get working vaccines, and by Spring enough of the population will have been vaccinated in order to remove the majority of restrictions. We had months to prepare and months of lockdown yet still lag behind many countries despite having more cases and deaths. Pretty sure that you argued that the Scottish track and trace was excellent. Not having a go but theres nothing the uk governments have done that deserves any praise in terms of handling this.

If it was guaranteed that this would only last 3 weeks I think I could accept it but every other timeframe we've been given has turned out to be utter shite so why would this be any different?
gannonball
Think @Div needs to pull the finger out and have Covid sub forums so we can have more GTF days based on tiers. Edited November 17, 2020 by gannonball
