Piers Morgan must be the most irritating c**t on TV, but kudos to him this morning on GMB  TV for destroying vaccines minister, Na***** Zahaw,  and at the same time, inflicting some serious damage on Matt Hancock who insisted over the weekend there was never, at any time. a shortage of PPE in the NHS.

Hopefully this clip will soon be up on Youtube.

Edited to ask why N a d h i m is blocked out?

What about his point on care workers and NHS nurses. Refusing the vaccine. Pay them off if no jag?

I'm just basking in the general good mood of this thread for once, fully aware that NS will probably absolutely gut the shite out any positivity at 1215 today.

I hope not but given that it's unlikely today will be lower numbers than last Monday then i think it will still be a bit of a downbeat message - if they are doing highly targeted testing around the hotspots then the numbers are bound to be higher. Hopefully the positivity percentage remains below 5% again - would be good if NS did give a bit of good news about vaccines having great impacts and also gave some indication as to when mass vaccinations will be ramped up again

I can't believe there are care workers and nurses out there who would refuse a jag.

If there are, they're in the wrong job.

I suspect you're right - despite the initial evidence from the trials and Israel we've been continually bombarded with negativity and propaganda on a daily basis.  There is irrefutable proof from Scotland that vaccines are doing their job at reducing hospitalisations (and therefore deaths) but I suspect we will still be told about cases numbers and hypothetical variants and the need to be slow and cautious.

Looking forward to their studies about the religious affiliation of the Pope and where bears really defaecate in the woods to clear up those last remaining mysteries while we're at it!

Months of pointless, wall to wall fear-mongering could have been avoided by simply applying our long established experience of how vaccines work, rather than pretending that Covid is some special case where the rules don't apply.

today is not a day to bring the old firm into it

I know a home care worker who is refusing it "because it makes you infertile".

She is unable to back this up with anything other than being sent a meme on Whatsapp about it. But I would not want her going anywhere near any of my relatives who need home care.

Anyway. I'm loving the mood of this thread today. Normally I come in to vent my frustration or see other people getting angry, which in turns makes me feel better about all the pent up emotions I have. Today it's been fantastic actually looking forward with a bit of excitement for the everyday things that we've been missing out on.

Nicola better not drain my positive Monday mood in approximately six minutes time.

I know of a respiratory nurse who has said he'll refuse it. He's been working with COVID patients and in COVID wards since this started and since he hasn't caught it so he thinks he's got some sort of natural immunity. "Why take something I don't need?" was the explanation. There are just as many morons working in care than in any other industry.

I'm doing the same. Great to see.

NS has actually re-tweeted Sky News' story about the vaccines, so even she would seem to be finding it good news. As I said earlier, today and tomorrow she must change her tone.

If NS has seen (or at least knew about) these results 4/5 days ago then it makes her utterly negative tone look even worse.

If the vaccine is producing those kind of reductions 4 weeks after first dose in the most vulnerable people, what's it going to do in those who were unlikely to get seriously ill in the first place?

Jeeso - you really will find a negative in absolutely everything (and you say NS is negative....wow)

Back to tiers it is.

Can't wait for Edinburgh and the surrounding areas to be stuck in Tier 3.

Fife no being in Central Scotland means we are destined for the pub in March, happy days. ;)

Sturgeon will soon regret her constant use of the driven by data phrase. I expect the next few weeks will see further big falls in hospital numbers and also more transmission studies released like earlier today. The pressure will get heaped on when she’s aiming for zero covid and the hospitals are empty. The only scientific arguement left will be the mass movement of people from the west around Scotland for a pint at weekends

Still flapping about whether the vaccine stops transmission despite the vaccine stopping pretty much everyone getting seriously ill 😂

It's becoming quite obvious that almost all restrictions can be safely binned 4 weeks after the needle comes out of the last person in those top 9 JCVI groups.

Continually finding something to 'worry' about is quite an artform tbf.

Who had "unknown about transmission" for mood-killer bingo?

In all seriousness, that was a tacit admission that transmission  is looking like it will be reduced.  Did she use the word "positive" and "optimistic"?

I actually don't mind that NS says it will take time, I think we all know that it will take time to vaccinate everyone, but restrictions have to be proportionate to the hospitalisation and death rate.  As that decreases, so should the restrictions.

Glad to hear references by the CMO to the impact in Israel.

Continuing the "Feel Good" theme; I am looking forwrad to visting my Mum in her Care Home. We haven't seen her since Christmas Day and then we were separated by a pane of glass and had to talk to her by 'phone. Almost like a Prison Visit.

Seeing my daughters and grandchildren as well is something to look forward to.

From a selfish point of view going for a pre-match pint before going to Tynecastle and after 15 munutes wishing that we were back in lockdown.
