I doubt universal credit would cover their bills and food for their family either.

It's almost as if the UK's poor-baiting social support system is the problem to be solved here then, rather than creating a special class of people who get 5-6x the support of another citizen.

Buckingham Palace trying to justify Charles visit by saying its a private hospital.  Charles made a round trip of 90 miles to visit the hospital. They are basically saying if you have money or a Royal the rules don't apply to you.

Add in the fact that Charles and others came from London to Balmoral at the start of the first lockdown despite it being against the rules its a big f**k the rest of you, we will do what we like from the Royals

I'm not sticking up for the royals at all, but if these restrictions had been in place last year when I lost my Dad, I'd have been travelling to see him in his last few days. The fact that people have had to find out loved ones have died through a phone call because of these restrictions is abhorrent

Daily Update: It is now apparent with lowering infection rates. That workplace outbreaks somewhat throw the smaller councils up the charts. I shake my head when all we hear is that Serco etc are doing a fantastic job of containing the outbreak.  Aye the outbreak that should not have happened to the extent it did.

Inverclyde showing up many more affluent council areas down at 59.1 cases per 100K

Aberdeen has 69 cases and a 1.9% positivity rate.

I have a feeling that if we get a few relaxations on Tuesday such as outdoor mixing being more than 2 people. It is not going to be a national decision.

Scotland peaked at 301.9 for figures 29th Dec to 4th Jan,    Cases that day were 16,496 and test rate was 11.9%

Total cases latest 7 days are 5,686 to 5,661 down 25 and the positive test goes from 5.4& to 5.2%  Cases per 100k drops drops from 104.1 to 103.6

England 137.8 to 133.4  in last 24 hours.  Wales  87.3 to 87.7  in last 24 hours , Northern Ireland 114.0 to 111.8 in last 24 hours.   UK Average is now  131.8 to 128.1 in last 24 hours.

Council progress in last 24 hours as follows.

You would have been allowed to visit your dad as end of life care patients are allowed visitors. This is not end of life care unless the illness is more serious than the media have been told.

I agree its a shit situation  but you can't be allowed to dingy the rules just because you are a Royal

Ha you clearly dont know me. My mouth has got me into trouble many times and I've mouthed off to the police before. If questioned in a sarky tone like the OP was I'd definitely have said something

Im sure you’d have hit out with a total zinger that they’d have never heard before. Why not remind them that you pay taxes and therefore their wages? I bet that would go down well.

I thought only two people were allowed to visit for end of life? I just assumed those two people had to be the same each day.

The lack of soundbites regarding his health make me think it is more serious than they're letting on

Falkirk Council doubling down on their claim that only 'mainstream' P1-P3 pupils are to return full-time while those in enhanced or specialist provision are only to return part-time (four days) while some of the district's severe and complex pupils are to only get two days. They claim this is what the SG said last week.

Absolutely shameful and clear discrimination. No other council is claiming that this is what's meant to happen.

Was also asked to put a face covering on (which I did). When I said I didn't realise it was required (the station isn't indoors) the polis replied "why do you think we're wearing them?"

Was very tempted to respond with "Because your commanding officer ordered you to?" but shat it and decided I'd rather just get home without hassle.

The legal answer to this is because paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 7 of the Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions and Requirements) (Local Levels) (Scotland) Regulations 2020 require individuals using either (a) a passenger transport service or (b) passenger transport service premises to wear a face covering.

Further, paragraph 1(2) adds that a person is using passenger transport service premises if they are “present at premises where a passenger transport service may provide, stop or terminate their service, and the part of those premises in which they are present is available for use by the public.”

So technically people should be wearing masks if they are in the immediate vicinity of a bus stop, too. Whether it is inside or outside is not relevant for Schedule 7.

Ironically the Police don’t have to wear a face covering at a train station if they’re on duty because “a constable acting in the course of their duty” is exempt.

When challenged earlier I assumed it had something to do with being within the station boundary.

Felt like quite the rebel when I removed my face covering immediately after leaving the train at an empty Pollokshields West station. Hope I don't get lifted.
