UK population of 66 million v India population of 1.36 billion. Very much feels like any of our vaccination supplies we give them would be like pissing on a bonfire at best.

Indeed, if we have enough surplus to make a dent in India's crisis then that is quite something.

St Petersburg get 3 Dublin games and Wembley the other. Munich agreed to 25% capacity at the last minute and Bilbao games moved to Sevilla so Bilbao must have been a local govt decision rather than national.

got a link to this?  must have missed this story.

why just us?  why not the EU, the US and other countries with way more vaccines than we have?

ETA I see why now.  Only their own Covaxin, AZ and sputnik have been approved for use.

This will probably impact upon the UK's vaccination programme given we are supplied from India.

I guess it could be as a connection to the past and UK rule, India being part of the commonwealth and the very large Indian population in parts of England.

Are the 5 million doses due from India complete or just part of the process, either way I cannot see the Indian government allowing a shipment at this time.

You do wonder if Ireland would have made the same decision if they had qualified for the finals. I suspect not.

If Ireland had appointed a manager and not Stephen Kenny they might have qualified and yes they would be hosting

If we have not won the shoot out in Belgrade it would have been our games getting moved.

I was listening to it on the lunchtime news while working, not even sure who it was speaking. Just seemed like a mental stance to adopt.

14% of NHS Ayrshire and Arran have not taken the offer of the vaccine. Only 3 people didn't take it on medical grounds.

Makes you wonder at overall uptake figures when individual sectors seem to have relatively high resistance.

Certainly makes it easier. If we weren't there and it was 25% capacity with no fan zone, masks, no singing etc. would you be fussed if we gave up our games? Will the host venue/FA even make money from it now?

Hopefully because we are involved there is more effort to make it the best event it possibly can be in the circumstances which might not be the case if the host isn't involved.

Does this include admin staff who might feel they were queue-jumping if they took it despite never actually seeing patients?

No drop from 93 in hospital I believe?  Or have they not updated the figures today yet?

Scottish numbers: 23 April 2021

Summary

  • 255 new cases of COVID-19 reported
  • 19,771 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
    • 1.5% of these were positive
  • 1 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
  • 12 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 93 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19

Can only assume no change. Other than another death reported it is really positive viewing.

You have to imagine that even with the low numbers last summer, we are probably running at a lower prevalence now than we were then with the greater testing numbers, vast swathes of the population now pretty much unavailable for infection.

Trial event with no social distancing postponed due to anti-vaxxer cranks targeting it.

What on earth do these people want, exactly? No proof of vaccination had to be shown for entry. Lunatics getting in the way of reopening and nothing else.

It's always Liverpool as well that these brain donors seem to come from.
