Aidan
I've genuinely just given up even attempting to stick to their pish rules. Was in my local for the first time in over a year tonight and I was actually glad to just see every c**t mingling, hugging, playing pool the full lot.

Very galling that we're pissing about up here with 500 fans at Killie and Dundee and English teams have a decent number of fans. Just wish we had a competent football governing body who'd pull the SG to task over this This. Nobodies been in any serious danger for about a month, nobody is giving a f**k about restrictions any more, yet no fans are allowed at a cup final and its been a complete pig to even get a spot at a pub to watch it. This past 2 months have honestly just been the biggest waste of life any of us will ever live through. An absolute farce by clueless morons terrified to make a decision because they have zero idea what's happening and why so instead just guess at whatever sounds best. I'm hoping this is what the pubs are like on Saturday. Genuinely be gutted if everyone is strapped to a table 10ft away from everyone else, while 90% of folk are vaccinated.

I work at the mass vaccination centre in Dundee and feel like because of that I've probably been more tolerant of the restrictions than most but I just can't be arsed anymore. The stage we're at now people should just stay in if they're that scared of catching a dose of the sniffles.

Share a lot of the sentiments in that. I don't think it's true nobody is giving a f**k about restrictions any more though. Left Back
Anyone else finding it strange watching football on the tv without fake crowd noise? referees getting booed, players getting abuse and the total silence when the home team ships a goal. it’s more like what we remember as normal but it feels strangely odd at the moment.

Why would there be a mass outbreak? they're not sitting beside one another, I'm sure most, if not all with have masks on, and the small matter of it being outdoors where transmission is practically non existent
vikingTON
Well Morton have secured the grand total of 100 extra tickets for the Wee Dublin End (total 600) for Friday's game. You could have 1000 folk with pneumonic plague in the WDE* and there'd be no risk of transmission, the place is fucking huge and entirely open. * And we've had worse manky infestations when Saint Mirren fans came to town.

Literally no-one who runs one knows what is going on anymore. We’re almost as clueless as the Scottish government. I was having a few drinks in a pub in Portobello earlier this evening, painstakingly explaining to a couple of pals about all the hoops you have to jump through to put on live music, and how live music is not allowed in a pub or restaurant setting where 1m+ social distancing is observed, and how we’re only allowed to play low level ‘background music’, but live music (and other live entertainment) must take place in a dedicated room where the audience are ticketed, and are there specifically to see the act or performer, and the social distancing requirement is (for some completely unknown reason) not 1m+ but 2m. Then I get home, read the Scotsman and see its all changed. It seems you can now put on live music in a pub, in a non-ticketed environment where people haven’t come specifically to see the act. So that completely undermines the spurious distinction between live performance (with its 2m social distancing requirement) and hospitality (with 1m+) that the Scottish government have been peddling for (it seems like) forever. I guess it’s good news. Presumably the illogical policy that discriminated against live music, comedy, cabaret, and any form of entertainment can now get filed in the nearest bin where it belongs. Or can it? The Scottish government’s long-awaited review into social distancing isn’t due to report back until the first week in June, so we don’t know yet. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that SG have held (and enforced) two mutually incompatible positions at the same time. Cognitive dissonance seems to be baked into government policy at the moment. From what I’ve seen when I’ve been out and about in Edinburgh over the last few days, compliance with the ever-changing, frankly incomprehensible mess of bureaucratic effluvium that masquerades as governmental Covid policy for the hospitality sector is not just variable, but completely erratic, with a few brave outlets doing their best to ensure everyone checks in and out with a QR code, strictly enforcing the counter-productive 2 hour booking slots, and adhering to every arbitrary stipulation that they’ve managed to decipher from the daily tablets of wisdom that get passed down from Holyrood, while many other outlets have either given up, or just can’t be bothered trying to work out what the government wants any more, as the ramblings of a lunatic would be easier to decode. The temptation amongst most reasonable people is just to say that Covid’s done, put a fork in it, the vaccines have done their job, but the government seems determined to spin this on ad infinitum. There are so many vested interests in perpetuating the hype - the tinpot dictators, politicians and public servants who’ve become so adept at restricting our businesses and micro-managing every aspect of our lives that they’re now stuck in authoritarian mode, seemingly believing that this is the natural order of things, and that governmental restrictions no longer require justification; the incompetents amongst our leaders who just want to kick the can down the road and evade responsibility for taking the tough decisions required to salvage something from the wreckage of the economy; the pen-pushers and ‘civic-minded’ opportunists who have come into their element in the exponentially-expanding bureaucratic boom-time of Covid; the media who have revelled in peddling fear porn 24/7; the Covid profiteers and parasites who don't want this to end, because they’ve got shares in a shite hand-sanitising company, or a crap app that was never likely to be effective but promised to make them a quick buck nonetheless; the left-leaning ‘liberals’ who’ve come out of the authoritarian closet and gotten a taste for it; the pseudo-experts who’ve enjoyed their moment in the media spotlight rather too much, and are panicking now their lucrative careers in sanctimonious doom-mongering have been undermined by the rather-too-effective vaccines, reduced to hyping up the latest no-hoper new variant. It’s long past time for the Scottish government to get a grip, hurry the f**k up and get as many available jabs into as many remaining arms as quickly as possible. outline a timetable for a return to complete normality (rather than some dystopian new normal bullshit) and let us get on with the rest of our fucking lives.
