Easier said than done if the isolation rules are written into law. I'm exactly the sort of person who would be unlucky enough to get a call/visit to make sure I'm doing as I'm told. I’ll live normally and keep doing everything I usually do, but if I’m unlucky enough to get the traced I just have to suck it up. Any other time, sure. In fact, ping me on Boxing Day...please! But the week before Christmas brings with it all sorts of things where people rely on my help (or, more specifically, my car...).
sergie's no1 fan
Folk constantly having a go at each other in this thread. Direct it at those who deserve it. Tory c'nts are literally laughing in our faces and they will still get re-elected.

Partly because of that lack of funding, and partly because we're an unhealthy, ageing nation. If we're still using that as the excuse this year then we might as well axe Christmas and any winter events for the foreseeable, regardless of Covid. We can't stop the ageing process but there has been almost zero drive from the SG to promote and incentivise healthier living. Losing a bit of weight, exercising more and getting some extra fresh air are all free and could save millions from the NHS winter budgets.

Not because of the variant per se, but the new rules around isolation if you get the dreaded call. Obviously there's ways of reducing the chances of getting that call, but at least one of the events does bring a high risk of it happening regardless if someone happens to test positive. Going to a Christmas party then isolating during the boring Christmas/New Year week sounds pretty good. Just make sure the fridge is stocked.

And placing a surtax on puffing fatties/a rebate on a higher base rate for the healthy is the incentive that is needed.
superbigal
The booking system for Covid boosters has a serious flaw. It knows all your details but will still allow you to book an appointment (And get a reminder) for a date where they would simply turn you away. Ie A double jagged 45 year old can book an appointment for a booster any day they want. Why can the system not say "sorry guv" your earliest "allowed" appointment due to when you had your 2nd Jag is xx/xx/xxxx ? Absolute pish system. Some real halfwits managing IT in NHS Scotland. When I went to Falkirk Hospital on Tuesday, I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment and joined a massive queue. There was a woman from the NHS going up and down the line telling people to leave if they didn't have an appointment - everyone in line had one. We waited 40 minutes (so, 30 minutes after our allotted time) to finally be taken. Definite failure of the system there.

Elixir
And a reminder that unless it is inevitable that hospitals will be swamped and therefore lead to people dying in the streets, restrictions are unjustifiable.

As much as im fully loaded ready to give them both barrels , that isn’t really true, they have spent billions in grants to the likes of sustrans and for local authorities to promote active travel whilst trying to discourage car use in built up areasThe truth is we are a shower of lazy c***s who won’t walk the length of ourselves, we are second only to the yanks as seeing the car as the go to mode of transport

Left Back
Projection of daily infection rates from the evidence paper. "To avoid the NHS being put under severe pressure Omicron would need to be substantially less severe than Delta (either because of the characteristics of Omicron or the effectiveness of vaccination against severe disease) given the very substantial number of infections projected in Figure 6." If fat people can’t see thag they are killing themselves then doubt a wee incentive will make a difference
Guest
Can I reiterate anyone wanting more restrictions are free to go lock themselves in their house and pish their pants in fear whilst the rest of us get on with our lives.
