Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I think there’s a sizeable majority who are dead against restrictions, but there’s nowhere to make your voice heard. Nowhere to make your point that gets noticed, without you being branded uncaring for those affected by covid. Nowhere to protest. No-one, and I mean no-one I know, is anything other than scunnered, totally scunnered, with Sturgeon, Johnson & Co.

I would happily attend a protest against restrictions now but the issue is they’re all dominated by anti vax weirdos.

The problem is that having a massive wave of people who are sick at one time is as bad for the economy as lockdown is.

Yesterday i was on the way to a dentist appointment and there were a number of announcements about train cancellations because of staff sickness. The appointment I had was rearranged because the first one the dentist was off sick. I know my brother had so many staff off sick (he’s down south) that his cafe was shut and not making any money for nearly 2 weeks. Sick people aren’t going out and spending money, then shops, cafes, pubs etc aren’t making enough.

Limiting the spread is still important, perhaps not to the extent of saving lives but to try and prevent mass illness at one time. At least lockdown normally brings furlough money with it but if everyone is still getting sick, then there is still a problem.

But are those people actually sick rather than having been in contact with someone with Covid?

If we're screwed just now from an infection perspective and jags (including boosters) don't seem to have any effect, then why does the SG or anyone else suddenly think that everything will be "ok" after this 3 week shut down ?

It looks like another write off of normal life until about May again !!

(Better get that haircut in before it's too late).

Talking about straws and camels back.  That’s me resigned this afternoon from the SNP and cancelled my DD.  Utterly nonsense decisions today, unsupported by the evidence.

Welcome, brother.

Cant wait to spent the next few saturdays watching EPL games at Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea etc with full houses in the Omicron epicentre, because im not allowed to sit in a half empty, 3 sided TFS in Falkirk (not the omicron epicentre)
f**k knows what will happen there. They might carry on with fans until 2022 but I'd still guess they'll end up with capacity restrictions before our three-week* period is done.

What's the deal with pubs and restaurants btw? Capacity limits and table service, or anything else?

*Yes it'll obvs be more

Well I’m the case of my brothers cafe, yes they all were.

Obviously I don’t know in other cases but given the latest Gov figures, with a rise of 63% positive test results, there is a good chance they are.

Come on, you can't expect the SG to have guidance ready before announcing measures can you?

They only made this decision about three weeks ago.

It would be nice if rather than labelling football and hospitality as potential super spreaders, if they could actually produce any data to show that they are already places were there is a high incidence of people transmitting Covid.

I'm going to the panto on Christmas Eve, Kings Theatre in Glasgow which holds 1785 people, and is typically sold out for just about every performance at this time. It will not be under any new restrictions from Sunday. "Following the science"? f**k off.

Any SNP supporter who thinks decisions like today won’t affect support in any IndyRef2 is fcuking deluded. When push comes to shove, and vast swathes of ordinary, unswayed, not politically active Scottish punters are actually stood in that booth with a pencil in hand…

Its obvious that herd immunity is the only way forward, especially since the new variants are mild as f**k.

Herd immunity and the vaccine, which the SG have undermined for a year.

I'll be drawing a life like image of my thick, veiny 4 incher.

It's your kid.

Stop asking and start telling her what you have decided to do.

If this was me, I'd cancel the visit too or re-schedule.

Absolutely no way would I allow any OCD-freak to tell me how to live my life for the dubious honour of getting to visit them.

Your choice bud but this woman is going to be wrappiong you round her finger for years and years if you don't take a stand.

I actually take your point and if it was my own mother I’d be taking your stance.

Correct. I actually spoke at a Freedom Rally held locally last Spring but was disappointed to find that most of the folks there (not many) were anti Vaxers and anarchist types.

Never again.
