Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The routemap is as expected, however I do like the lack of the ridiculous "but no earlier than..." line present elsewhere.

I'm assuming they will have dates in mind but not publishing them allows the flexibility to speed things up if the correct trend is experienced.

Was it not more like "stop dem scrounging foreign types being able to get in here! What!? It might be more difficult for me to go to Mallorca from now on. This was unforeseeable I tells ye. I am outraged. Bloody foreign b*****ds."

Something like that and to clap for them on a thursday then charge them double for saving the blessed boris's life

My furlough was until 28th may. I came back this week but I dont think this is a coincidence.
October will be back to almost normal if everything progresses in a good way.

Aye, that was the best they could come up with. Apparently Westminster is the gold standard on exiting lockdown l, why else would we be following them....

That was said "things can be slowed down or things can be sped up"

I don’t think they are but it doesn’t hurt to use them as the guinea pigs here, watching how they get on in relaxing measures and seeing what it brings before implementing them ourselves isn’t a bad idea.

I wonder what the timeframe is expected for each phase

Reviews are 3 weeks apart. So fast as it will likely go is 3 weeks from one phase to the next.

Today’s
@scotgov
#coronavirus
update will be in
@ScotParl
at 12.30pm. I’ll set out a 4 phase routemap to take us carefully out of lockdown. For now, advice is
#StayAtHome
- sticking to the rules now will suppress the virus further and let us move through the phases more quickly.

May 21, 2020

Quite clearly a different route map to England - cautious but realistic and honest.

Still think they are optimistic about getting teachers in when we still have CSCs in place - when I've been in school I've had to work in the school office as my whole department is being used by other schools in the CSC - not unless CSCs move back to their own schools in the final week of term.

Interesting that they date they are looking at for schools to start the phased return is 11 August - that's the return date for most Scottish schools in any case - but not for some councils - DCC are meant to return a week later - I wonder how they'll get round that?

The blended return is going to be really difficult - it really needs pupils to have IT access - not sure £30million is anywhere near enough. There is also the whole issue of classes being split and possibly being taken by non-specialists - this could be problematic - especially for practical subjects. In IT heavy courses like Admin & IT we really need clarification from SQA urgently regards course assessment and exams for session 2020-21 - trying to get through the content when pupils might only be in school 2 hours per week (when they normally get 5-5.5 hours per week) may be very difficult, especially if a blended return goes on for a substantial period of time. I think some parents are not going to be happy that younger pupils might only be in school for 20% or so of their normal time - and this might continue as far as Christmas. Also in terms of workload it will be difficult to both support classes in school whilst at the same time monitoring and supporting remote learning.

A lot to get our heads around.

Phase 1 - "Gradual re-opening of drive through food outlets"

Erm, why have the ones that reopened, in some cases weeks ago, not been shut doon? [emoji2371]

This is the key point.

Far too much is put on folks past reputation. Yes these things are important to note but don't ignore the detail of what's being said.
Pretty much this.

But let's not pretend everyone of that boomer generation has it sorted. Many don't.

And we're talking about care homes, which absolutely no-one wants to end up in.

You're right though, folk don't want to pay for it - but it's something that really needs to happen. Hopefully this virus gives us a chance.

Don't you think if we were given the choice we would rather pay for care homes than pay for Trident or HS2?

surely that's the way it should be.

NS said that it was not written in stone so it makes sense that depending on the way things go then decisions can be made.

But as Jambomo says

I don’t think they are but it doesn’t hurt to use them as the guinea pigs here, watching how they get on in relaxing measures and seeing what it brings before implementing them ourselves isn’t a bad idea.

Do you disagree with that?

They were never banned in the first place, just “discouraged”. They will no longer be discouraged.
