The fact some of the people sneering at jobs like ‘janitor’ and ‘lollipop man’ profess to be socialists etc makes it even worse.

I didn't realise you had to be a good guy to be a socialist, in my UOL experience there are knobs of all hues and persuasions, it's just that those of a wimpier nature seem to have found their voice amongst the anonymity of social media.

WRK with every second post being themed around the hatred of Tories, with a hilarious Tory attitude post demeaning the job of a lollipop person.

Happy to invite you in to the zoom call and you can tell these guys what they’re doing wrong in their recovery process?

How much are you paying for my time?

I've already generously provided some public domain information on obesity = input > output on the obesity thread, so I suggest you use that to change people's unhealthy habits instead, rather than your Liverpool-esque faux outrage routine.

Not to come over all birthday caird pish , but our jobs would be a bloody nightmare without our facilities staff.

My old man was a teacher, and used to advise student teachers/probationers that it didn't really matter if you got on with the Head teacher, but it was vital to get on with the jannies. This is pretty much true in every walk of life.

Just got this sent over to the work inbox. Who'd have thunk it, eh?

Can't wait for their follow-up publications on whether bears shit in the woods and the religious demographics of Vatican City tbh.

Scratching my head a bit because as far as I know I'm not in any priority group but just got my first jab appointment through the door.

Expect another NHS letter to arrive shortly, and please accept my condolences.

Absolutely true. Closely followed by the cleaner who does your room and the canteen staff. Heroes the lot of them. A school is such a real time scenario that if any one member of staff isn't up to scratch it has a huge impact.

I got my one and only 6 of the lash from the Head Teacher for hitting the Jannie on the head with a tennis ball.  He came around the corner just as I volleyed it towards the "goal" at the end of the corridor.  Funnily enough, I also managed to hit the music teacher on the brew with a bouncy ball yet received no punishment for that.  Obviously the Jannie was higher up the pecking order than the music teacher.

Let's play bingo:
How worried are you about the Antigua variant. Might this delay the exit from lockdown?
How satisfied are you with Rangers response?
Are you concerned about cases increasing with schools going back? Might this push back the plan for more pupils to return?
Welsh barbers are opening on Monday. Why aren't ours?

No real investigative questions will be asked.

There’s a bit of a problem in NHS Lothian with a batch of vaccine letters going missing - people calling the helpline and finding out their appointment is either very soon, or has already passed.

That’ll be the number one panic, followed by the usual drivel.

God damnit. Hanging on to the fact I used to get offered a flu jab due to a childhood illness. Haven't even be offered that recently but tbf I've either been abroad or not the best at updating my GP in the meantime

Given that it's the headteacher and not the jannies that give a recommendation at the end of the year it's absolutely vital that you get on with them.

That being said, the jannies, IT folk, cleaners, dinnerladies and office staff are the folk to get on with in a school.

Yep, especially if you consider just how dangerous roads are for kids, they’ve got a brilliant job and do a brilliant job in terms of keeping the kids safe. There was a wee lollipop man in dumbarton who used to dance at work (until some arsehole complained about him) and he was the happiest looking guy in the world. People should strive for that level of job satisfaction.

I find that knobs on the right fully embrace being an arsehole, whereas on the left they use their leanings as some kind of shield to say ‘oh i cant be an arsehole im a socialist’ etc. Its fucking rife.

I'd love to be a janny. Old George at my school was a brilliant laugh and was probably the happiest man at the school.

George, Garry and Imelda were brilliant, made the school a brighter place and probably had more respect from the pupils than a lot of the teachers.

These press conferences (UK and Scotland) have shown that the press are actually incapable of asking a pointed question, or thinking on their feet.

The first journalist will ask two or three vague, rambling questions based on what's been the hot news topic that morning. The minister will pretty much ignore any tricky question and only answer the one they like. Journalist two will then come on and (surprise surprise) ask the same questions again. Often prefaced with "following on from the last question...". Rather than see that their question is done with and come up with something new.

Couldn't agree more the entire daily press is pretty quickly moving towards opinion pieces rather than actual journalism and it's really showing.

That and they don't want to piss off their pals in high places see Dominic Cummings presser being about as high pressure as a Sunday stroll.

A fair point.

I live pretty close to DA and I still see Garry regularly, haven't seen George in a while but I think he's still with us.

That makes it look like right wing folk have more honesty and honour.
