Benjamin_Nevis
11 ICU beds being used from an available 585. 81 people in hospital beds from an available 13,000. Get the fucking restrictions lifted. This. It's absolute fucking nonsense that me and my two mates can't share self catering tourist accommodation booked for next week, until fucking JUNE when the vaccines (which we've all had) have been solidly booting Covid-19 in the baws solidly for months [emoji23]

It's absolute fucking nonsense that me and my two mates can't share self catering tourist accommodation booked for next week, until fucking JUNE when the vaccines (which we've all had) have been solidly booting Covid-19 in the baws solidly for months It's been said numerous times now but we've totally lost sight of why we're in lockdown. We didn't lockdown to save every single life possible, we locked down to stop the NHS being over-run. There is absolutely no danger of that happening right now. We are churning out thousands more vaccines than we are generating cases per day, 2.7 million people is about half the country who have had their first vaccine which offers over 65% protection against serious illness. If there was a journalist worth their salt they'd be hammering this home at every daily meeting and demanding to know why things can't open. As it is, I expect more faux outrage about why wee Mary, 58, from Lochgilphead husnae hud hers yit.

Forest_Fifer
What do you do when your cash cow died before his 100th birthday when you already have the t-shirts printed? Naturally you still flog them. Neck, blowtorch, etc.
MONKMAN
Dumfries & Galloway 10.1 to 16.8 Scotland's most dangerous neighbourhood. Upper Nithsdale with 80% of their casesI’ve said for years that the council border should move so Upper Nithadale is incorporated into East Ayrshire, before the entire place is carpet bombed. I stand by this 100% -

There's been 50 odd Junior Park Runs back up and running down there, although I've not heard about any adult events. Up here, as you'd expect, absolultely nothing. Would love to get back to Parkrun (or 10Ks - marathons beyond my clapped out achilles these days) Not Parkrun, but interesting all the same (interesting in that England exploring these things, and Scotland still doing the square root of f**k all)

Have some faith in Magic
With weather like this for the next week or so the hospitality industry will be taking an absolute tanking. Its 10 degrees at best, probably feels like 4 degrees, it's windy and raining.

s_dog
Along with the great stats from today, its brilliant to see the numbers of older people now fully vaccinated. Also, over 90% of care home residents and staff have had both doses and almost 80% of NHS frontline staff. Another week of hammering second doses and I reckon the first doses for 40-49's will take off too. With the schools all now back full-time, everything else gradually starting to open, cases might start to go up at some point, but there's still a bit of time for them to fall further before that happens, and with so many people having at least one jag, as long as we keep the vaccinations rolling on as we have been, a slight rise in cases will hopefully be the worst outcome.
