Daily Cases Update:  Day 15 of dropping cases and down a decent 3.02% to 254.8     Infectivity still high at 8.6%. Good news is I believe we are in line for another 5% drop tomorrow.    I have a feeling looking at the current numbers & also the performance of the mid table councils that we are going to Plateau somewhere around 200 cases per 100K.    Then we are looking at a straight fight between more vaccines against our nearly freedom day in mid August. Clearly you would almost expect every kid to catch the virus in the next few months as the JCVI get their way.  I just do not see Scotland having a 4th wave.  The UK actually peaked at 642.1 per 100K against Scotland's 301.9 in January.  This possibly translates to the rest of the UK (Currently at 440.2) still having another fornight or so of rises to go. Nothing like the 100K a day however, that I believe they actually want/need for herd immunity.

Total Cases Scotland 7 days from 12th July to 18th July  were  14,356 to 13,923 down 3.02%.  Positivity was 8.8%  now 8.6%.   Cases per 100k were  262.8 now 254.8

Home Nations Daily update (2 Days)   :  UK Average 376.1 to 440.2 up 17.04%, England 398.6 to 473.5 up 18.79%, Wales 178.8 to 205.2 up 14.77%, Northern Ireland  229.6 to 294.1 up 28.09%

England now romping clear in Europe, followed by Netherlands, Spain, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Portugal & Wales.  The vast majority of Europe has had no 3rd wave.  Poland still at 1.6, Germany 10.9, Sweden 16.9, Italy 28.8  the list goes on.

Something I'm surprised they didn't make public re Hampden catering was that the queuing for the catering would have covered the entrances/exits meaning there would be no distancing possible with traffic going through the queue. That wasn't the case with the toilets.

Cases up here have continued to fall for 2 weeks now even tho restrictions have been loosened ( albiet only slightly) social distancing outside of highly controlled settings has been completely abandoned by the public, there have been no curbs on indoor visiting and hospitality as there was in previous rounds, mask wearing is slowly getting less adherence, people have stopped caring about gathering limits.  and as i said before , we didnt just stop watching the euros after scotland were eliminated. 

schools are now the only difference between scotland and england ,  can they really account for that much extra spread? and if so , surely kids are  not making up  the hospitalisation? 

or is it more likely that the virus is hitting a wall of vaccinated immunity which is breaking the chains of spread, only large close contact events are still to come 

i think we're going to be fine 

 

PS , this exit wave which we are currently going through, was always predicted , the lovejoys will need to go and f**k themselves as none of them have any better ideas

A - its unilad and I'd take that with a pinch of salt, and B - nobody was adhere to it apart from the lovejoys. It's over, folk realise they've done what they've been told for 16 months, they've had the vaccine, what else can they possibly do? The game is up 

The article I read from unilad suggested he'll u-turn on masks and WFH. Not quite another lockdown imo.

Same. Will hospitalisations and deaths increase in England in the short-term? Probably, yes. Is this a major problem? Not really.

The world needs a real life test of the vaccines, and England are going to do just that.

You always risk getting trapped in your own surroundings, but the (anecdotal) evidence and my own experience do not suggest that people have been brought back to their offices on anything approaching a wide scale. Reversing this guidance is probably a very marginal gain as it doesn't look like most employers are keen to have everyone back just yet. 

Amongst other reasons, the prevailing case rate caries a huge risk of staff being pinged.

The rise in Perth is in part caused by a large number of cases in the prison.

Cowdenbeath was a massive van behind the main stand where the 2 members of staff were about 5m apart. A big difference from say a hatch at McDiarmid where all the staff are close together.

Yeh strange, also tbh I wouldn't use the places at East End because they are cash only which I'm sure is the case across the majority of SPFL stadia, it would have been good to introduce cashless kiosks and even delivery to your seat especially when the capacity is so limited.

Felt like Rugby Park was a real life example of this last night when you compare this video from the Moffat Stand behind the goals to an image taken from the opposite stand.

On the topic of trains the comrades at the RMT have told their members not to take anything to do with enforcing mask wearing or settling disputes between passengers about social distancing and if they personally feel unsafe due to Covid or disputes then move to a safe place on the train.

Saw him get off a Silversea cruise ship at Rio as we embarked a few years ago. A crew member told me he was constantly drunk and very disrespectful. 
He died a day or two later.

Think you are spot on. My train into Glasgow now has life about it but you'd still be lucky if there were a quarter of the passengers that there was pre covid. 

My own office has 140 spaces and we are allowed a quarter back in but I'd doubt if there have been as many as a dozen at any one time.  The rest of building seems same. Glasgow city centre is busy but it's tourists and shoppers. Not office workers. 

My employer is making noises about people starting to come back but certainly no pressure and hybrid will be available. Don't think employers want to he seen to be forcing people just yet. Especially if there is a wide outbreak and they get blamed.
