Anti vax nonsense this. Whilst AZ has never been great at preventing spread, it does an excellent job of reducing severe illness and death

anti vax from someone double jagged with AZ and already has had a Pfizer booster ?

AZ was always the Aldi of Covid vaccines

Looks like most of the public are not up for a lockdown

That hard core quarter of the country asking for perma-lockdown...ooft.

Just look at this thread. Original post: deaths amongst the hospitalised down two thirds with Omicron. Our old pal John: Omicron is worse.

Given her previous briefings and how restrictions have been announced before, this looks like another lecture rather than anything new.

I hope.

Likely just a daily figure update and an underlining of advice.

So, it's basically been reduced to a common cold and we're ending society for it?

And before the halfwits go 'cold like signs doesn't specify on severity', well yes, by design yes it fucking does.

There is a reason the cold doesn't kill anyone, because it does not fill your lungs with mucus and essentially drown you like early covid strains were doing to the vulnerable. If the symptoms of omicron are akin to the cold then it's not getting deep into your lungs, it is not providing cause for ventilation and it is not going to kill you or make you seriously ill. If it was doing this, we wouldn't be reporting cold-like symptoms.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but prior to 2019 there were four known Coronaviruses in human circulation.

For the vast majority of people, catching any of them would be referred to as a "bad cold," however they did have the ability to kill (particularly old) vulnerable people, and did so each year. No-one really cared as death was accepted as being a thing that happens.

We're now at the stage where SARS-CoV-2 is looking like it is ready to join that club, and we are shitting the bed. It's absolutely wild. We are not only encouraging people to test themselves into oblivion to find out if they have what we previously called a cold, but we are locking people away for 10 days to "recover" from it.

Fucking hell.

It probably feels like a 'really bad cold' rather than just a cold because nobody has actually had one for two year.

Do you not remember that thing in the late summer - “Do you have the worst cold ever that’s going round?”

This sort of fucking hyperbole these days is off the chart.

130 years ago coronavirus was named.

I had a chest infection last week, had all the Covid symptoms and I’ve never been more surprised at getting a negative LFT. I thought for sure I’d caught it.

It was definitely the worst I’ve had in a long time and I do put it down to lack of having one last year.

How else do you expect newspapers to sell and news channels to have viewers? Their entire business model is hyperbole.
