Reading that New York has increased its testing by over a thousand-fold, so the picture isn’t quite as horrendous as it may seem. A lot of the case based graphs don’t take that into account.

Just been reading on various that the USA is going to be the next epicentre and possibly the worst hit country in both relative and absolute terms.

It was more a general point. What you are saying may well be true, and none of it is good, but it’s worth keeping in mind if you find the graphs a bit frightening.

Mrs KillieCon works in a specialised department in the NHS. As of next week she is being moved departments to help out and will be taking on the role of a general nurse.

She has already been told that there is not enough PPE for the staff crossing over and there are doctors and anaesthetists who are still waiting to be fitted for the proper equipment. I'm now shitting myself about the potential consequences of this.

I can only assume that you've never had any dealings with USDAW.

Indeed, incidentally we have c50% of our staff either self isolated for 12 weeks as vulnerable people or self isolating due to displaying symptoms, Retailers are getting decimated at the moment.

Yes, it's not a great situation and it's only going to get worse.

If you have a spare room get the bed ready for her for when she gets home from her first day. it will show you care.

I don’t know what you do for a living, but there are very few jobs I’d feel safe about going out to do right now.
Work in a timber merchants. I was ok with working putting out deliveries only, but the majority of the drivers across the the company weren't comfortable with this, so head office got managers from all the depots to ring round the branch staff and find out who'd be willing to work and take it from there.
