MacDonald Jardine
Nah, you'll get the short-sighted ones that will want her out without having the first clue about who to replace her with. Without Budge Hearts would not have had all those Benefactor millions. If she goes I have a feeling her rich benefactor friends will not hang around. Most Hearts supporters recognise that she has made one major mistake and that's putting far too much trust in Levein for far too long. She admits that herself now so hopefully we'll not have another shit-show like last season again, or at least for a very long time. Short sighted? We've been awful for two years (cup runs aside) notwithstanding spending a comparative fortune. The stand has gone twice over budget and isn't finished. Other than the first couple of years what has been a success?
Mr Positive, sometimes.
The whereaboutary with the new board appointments for the SPFL is incredibly pathetic. Old Firm fans arguing about it despite the Rangers and Celtic reps taking turn about and have for a long time. It's apparently corrupt to the core etc etc. Football fans are some breed.

It reminds me of Chris Sutton branding Dunfermline cheats for ‘lying down’ to Rangers but he overlooked the fact that Celtic missed a penalty during their match at Kilmarnock. The difference is St.Mirren were a decent team that year until the final game. We lost 3-0 to Hearts twice, 3-0 to Hibs, 5-0 to Dundee United and 3-0 to Rangers that season. We lost 2-0 against the Bankies at Love Street earlier in the season. We, and Hearts, have since gone on to lose to Celtic by crushing margins on many, many occasions. There was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about us losing to Celtic by that margin, when we had nothing to play for and they were going for the title. The only team responsible for Hearts blowing the title was Hearts. Edited July 20, 2020 by Coventry Saint

I'm just waiting for the Tom English meltdown when he finds out the Brechin guy is still on the board.

Results were a mixed bag that season, especially after the H*mm*rby game and the team (couldn't really call them squads in them days) were on the decline compared to the early 80s and definitely needed freshening up - still being a supporter is not a rational condition and I'd probably still bear a grudge if the situations were reversed.

Dundee United took 7 points from 8 against Celtic and 2 points from 8 against Hearts that season. We tried.

Much like if Hearts had beaten St Mirren this year they wouldn't have been bottom!

The Fun would have done a St Maureen on the final day against Hearts if United had won those matches and were going to win the league. Clydebank should be added to the Hearts Table of Hate imo. Fantasy League thread for this pish. Just looking back at the final table there to see how close it was, and got sidetracked looking at a few of the final tables around that era. I remember being a youngster at school in the 80's with the new firm of Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen and Jim McLean's United teams being competitive and up there with the OF for a few years, but I never realised how incredibly consistent both clubs were for a decent number of seasons. Here's their finishing positions for the 18 seasons from 1976-77 upto 1993-94: Aberdeen: 3,2,4,1,2,2,3,1,1,4,4,4,2,2,2,6,2,2 Dundee United: 4,3,3,4,5,4,1,3,3,3,3,5,4,4,4,4,4,6 In a six year period in the eighties, there were only two OF title wins, including 3 consecutive seasons with no OF titles. Must have been brilliant. You realise even more how stale and shite our top league has become because of the financial clout of the big two.

The "It's shite being Scottish" brigade really have got a cottage industry on the go. Edited July 21, 2020 by Ranaldo Bairn
