Everyone who lives in a mansion just stands in front of the door all day every day just incase someone drops by unannounced.

I am pretty sure that Jack Bauer had a heart attack after being exposed to a toxin, and a couple of hours later was fist fighting a terrorist. fist what? I won't say what I initially read that a fully recovered Jack was doing a few hours later. Now that's revenge - must have been an angry Jack come season 7 or thereabouts - USA, USA, USA!!

Yet despite this, a husband booted out from the marital bed or an unexpected visitor (who will soon sort out the corrupt mayor/local sheriff) always end up on the couch overnight......

Just shoot them, a dead guy doesn't need an explanation.

Fucking james bond was built on this, to the point the Simpsons ripped the piss out of it in the episode "you only move twice" (one of the best simpsons episodes ever)

Spoiler He explains his plans to a bunch of gangsters including a scale model for their benefit only to then kill all of them afterwards. All except one but he gets killed too. Why not just kill them all and skip the explanation - and the scale model too.
BFTD
Do people do that in real life? Like, has anyone been summoned into their boss' office to hear the plans for expansion, wage rises, and employee benefits, only to hear "but I'm afraid you won't be joining us for any of this" and be given your jotters? I've had a couple of bosses who'd have loved to do this, only they never had any good news to share.

Mitchell & Webb had a sketch about a civil servant dropping hints that he's actually a spy to get women into bed. Not that I'm implying you're trying that with us or anything, but I'm free tonight after the football.
