Our problem is rarely the calibre of player. If that was the case N.Ireland, Wales, Bosnia, Albania, Iceland, Slovakia, Finland etc wouldn't be qualifying either.

Our problem is more often mentality. We are timid, meek, and passive. How often do you see us take a game to the opposition like others do? I swear we’ve managed it only a couple of times since 2007.

Tonight is surely a night for a victory. This team will likely have never played together in a competitive game before.

Guaranteed have never played a competitive game before. Only Hubník has any sort of significant experience, and the rest have a handful of caps and  U21 experiences combined.

I’ve just checked. Out of the entirety of League B, only Israel and Scotland haven’t qualified for any major tournament since 1998.

That’s actually a pretty horrifying stat.

agreed. but then we have players at club level who are not lacking in self belief. We consistently appoint managers who are decent enough but struggle to move beyond the "hard to beat" category; once they have steadied the ship they have an inability to then build that into an attacking confident team. We are defensive in every sense from SFA execs down but the real crux of it lies with each managerial appointment. let's see where Clarke goes from here......

That might be the worst midfield trio imaginable for any dynamism.  We'll keep the ball but unless the full backs are at it that's all we'll be doing with that lot.

This in spades.

That trio is pedestrian. Looks like Armstrong and Christie will need to drop deep to get any service.
