Conspiracy Theories

Recommended Posts

While it's obviously mad to suggest that the SNP is hoaching with MI5 spooks, it's a given that the security services will at least be keeping an eye on organisations who have a stated goal of breaking up the UK.

Big if true.

Lots of people in the comments complaining that "Dr. Kek" of "@thekeksociety" didn't even do any work to vet the image, pointing out it's from an article dated 2021 and that Cirsten Weldon (whoever she is) is dead.

If you can't trust someone calling themselves Dr. Kek, who can you trust?

His bio claims to provide 'truth and untampered information', which seems legit to me.

I Googled her. Apparently, she was a QAnon star (sic), who declared "Only idiots get vaccinated for Covid."

That was before she died of Covid.

Oh FFS...

Some of the anti-vax lot are now refusing to have their pets vaccinated.

"Daniella Dos Santos, the British Veterinary Association’s junior vice president, said the findings came as no surprise:

“Vets are deeply concerned about the creep of anti-vax sentiments into animal care. Our member survey found that 98% of vets have been questioned by clients about the need for vaccination.”"

“Among the other issues of concern raised by the report that almost one in five (19%) of dogs are left home alone for too long…”, Christ, just what we need, another excuse for people bringing their ill-behaved pooches all over.

This be the same David Cotteril who had to move back in with his mum after retiring from football because he lied to investors about property deals? Who knew that living in your mums basement as a grown man turned you into a raving lunatic, we've never seen evidence of that before...

Worth sharing this piece, about Peter Wilby. Wilby was the editor of the Independent on Sunday between 1995 and 1996 and New Statesmen between 1998 and 2005. He was a columnist for the Observer and Guardian following this. He took a left leaning position, was critical of New Labour, identified as a feminist and was supportive of republicanism.

earlier this year he was convicted of making child abuse images after an investigation by the NCA. He admitted the offence, told the police he had a sexual interest in children and had been viewing child abuse for his own sexual gratification since the 1990s, including while editing National publications.

One journalist has written about how Wilby used his column and his position as editor to downplay sexual abuse and to suppress investigations into sexual abuse of children. Others have also mentioned this - Jay Rayner has said that it seems Wilby might have played a role in suppressing his reporting in the 1990s on Greville Janner.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/sep/02/peter-wilby-editor-child-sexual-abuse

It’s not a conspiracy theory - it’s real, Wilby admitted guilt and his columns are a matter of record. I wonder if he suppressed these columns just on his own volition or if he was asked to.  Very tawdry affair.

Also, worth noting he got a suspended sentence of less than a year in jail. Throwing guys like him and Eric Joyce in jail for a minimum of ten years might help persuade others not to commit similar crimes as well as protecting children from them.

Heard/read something the other day about ISIS.

When they were at their peak and it was being reported that they were going about destroying historical sites and artefacts, they weren't actually doing this to any great extent but were actually punting the relics to rich collectors for funds, with the full knowledge of Western security services.

I’m sure this was covered or at least suggested at the time. Whether it was ISIS themselves doing it or if they turned a blind eye to local entrepreneurs doing it is unclear, bit of an overlap probably. I’m sure security services would be able to work out it was happening.

The certainly did destroy a large number relics and other sites. There are videos of ISIS fighters using pneumatic drills to systemically destroy artefacts in the Mosul Museum. Probably most of what they destroyed were mosques, they blew up pretty much every famous mosque in Mosul, including the one where Al-Baghdadi proclaimed their Caliphate 🤷‍♂️
