They did that in 2002 as well which was, incidentally, my first gig. Thought they were boring but Doves were excellent in support. Travis made up for it 11 years later at T in the Park.

Winner. End thread. Although not quite my first gig, I was taken to see Vince Hill supported by Duncan "chase me, chase me" Norvelle on Blackpool pier in 1983.

Juanhourjoe
Oasis at Murrayfield 2000. I was only 10 years old. My uncle took me down. Don't remember much about the actual gig. But it was quite the adventure for me coming along for him and his friends drinking session.
NorthernLights
System Of A Down at The Barrowlands back in March 2002. The Dillinger Escape Plan were the support and I wasn't ready for such a band back then £12 for a ticket was an absolute bargain!
coprolite
Glastonbury 1992. The first band on that i saw were Fat Dinosaur so i guess they were my first gig. I remember them being shite, sort of a shoutier Bad Manners with the lead singer in a spotty onesie. About 2 hours later the Fall were on and were great.
topcat(The most tip top)
Iron Maiden Edinburgh Playhouse November 1988 You never love a band as much as you love your favourite band when you're 16
scottmcleanscontacts
James at the SECC in 2001 as part of their farewell tour. They were, as they've been many times since their return, brilliant.Turin Brakes were supporting them that night in 2001. They weren't very good. I remember them having an element of (maybe moderate?) success afterwards.
Jimi Shandrix
I took my niece to her first gig in 2013. It was Black Veil Brides at the Barras. Unintentionally hilarious. A great storming off stage by the singer Andy Ballsack. More Tap than Tap.

The Locarno in Montrose hosted gigs by the like of The Small Faces and The Yardbirds. The was also a club in Elgin called The Two Red Shoes that put on gigs by The Beatles, The Who etc. I know a guy whose father saw the Beatles in Cumnock Town Hall. Ballroom Blitz was written after a fight during The Sweet's show in The Grand Hall in Kilmarnock. I saw the Neds on my only visit to the legendary Edinburgh Venue. I still have a faded t-shirt somewhere. Doesn't fit.
