Have a feeling Chelsea will make the final, had that feeling even before the draw.
Would be interesting to see Bayern v City but Pep may over tinker and get knocked out by Dortmund.

Agree with both your points, although I'm not sure if it'll be the QF or SF that Pep decides to f**k it. His lineups in big games are brilliant fun.

I can't understand why he does it. Last year in a one off game I was really looking forward to them and Bayern going toe to toe and seeing who came out on top as they were both flying and I didn't see any need for either of them to bother with any special tactics then he goes and sh*ts the bed against Lyon by playing a bizarre line-up. City are that good it should be other teams who change their tactics to compete, not the other way round.

He'll obviously have his mad reasons and long may it continue. I'd like to see him win the Champions League again as I love his football, but if he's gonna get pumped out then I want to have fun while he does.

I generally love the football that Pep’s teams play but in the Champions League final stages he’s latterly made some awful decisions in terms of strategy. I’m not absolutely convinced they’ll get past Dortmund and certainly Bayern or even PSG will be a huge test.

I don't get how anyone can genuinely love  Guardiola's style of football tbh. Appreciate its general effectiveness - absolutely. But it's fundamentally a death by a thousand cuts, defend your own goal by endlessly hogging possession strategy. The FA cup match against Everton last night was a prime example of how it works, and his matches are utter snorefests 95% of the time as a result.

The Ajax team that reached the semi final a couple of years ago had a truly adventurous style - one in which half of all passes were always played directly forward - and no fucks were given about being exposed defensively. Even Liverpool under Klopp - despite every right minded person rooting for them to fail - played an attractive and open style in the same CL campaign compared to the sanitised fayre of 'Pep's' latest hyperclub. Take out Messi's influence at Barcelona and his sides are insipid in terms of actual appeal to a neutral.

Some very fair points in that. I guess my love for his football is largely based on the Barcelona team. As you rightly say Messi had huge influence there. Iniesta one of my favourite players so more than just Messi for me there.

Its one of the great tragedies of modern football that Ajax team didn't get to the final, where I'm sure they'd have disposed of Liverpool.

They absolutely BATTERED Spurs for over 1.5 of those 2 games. If the first leg in London had finished 7-0 to Ajax Spurs couldn't have had any complaints. Then the second leg Ajax should have been about five up by the time Spurs scored their first.

Then they just shat the bed a bit, the second goal a disaster where the keeper panicked, they had it well under control and he just dived on the ball and it rebounded to Moura.

Real shame, maybe just wasn't meant to be. They were sensational that year and it would have been great for football if a team from outside the big leagues had won it playing bold attacking football. Maybe they were just a bit too young and panicked.  Very sad. Against Juventus and Real away from home they were stunning.
