The US Presidential election prediction thread

Have you not been watching the protests all year? Portland, Oregon? Proud Boys? American civilians own more firearms than the US military. They've only been a couple of trigger events from serious and self-sustaining political violence all year. A civil war won't be a territory-based war with armies, that's not how they work any more.

Domestic terrorism by the right and constitution obsessed weirdos is going to continue to rise whatever happens. If they were to go head to head with the actual American state then they’d be Qrushed.

I literally cannot conceive how anyone in America can vote for this guy or think that he is doing any kind of job that’s good enough to vote him in again. It’s like when people vote Tory here, so opposite to the way I see it that it just can’t process how they can see what they do in any kind of positive way.
I can just about understand it in the UK in the past couple of years as the opposition was so poor and there was no SNP alternative in England.

Its like the Brexit vote where you can't believe people have been suckered in to voting against their interests.

Regardless of what happens, it's been a particularly poor night for the Democrats.

Biden may just win the presidency, but Trump is increasing his popular vote.

The Senate remains Republican, effectively neutering Biden as President.

The Democrats retain the House, but lose seats.

Given the chaos that Trump has caused, given the state that the USA is in, its a pretty shameful indictment of the Democrats that they couldn't perform better.

America now badly needs a figure who can bring a halt to this madness and begin to heal the divisions. I'm thinking a 2020 version of Charlton Heston...

They're probably dumb enough to vote for a cartoon character, after all look at what they've done this time around, they've voted in their millions for a narcissistic sociopath.

When Democrats win with a bland centrist - see, this is because compromise, centrism and bipartisanship work, moving to the left would be insane
When Democrats (far more frequently) lose with a bland centrist - see, this is because we've gone too far to the left, we need more compromise, centrism and bipartisanship, moving to the left would be insane
Someone more progressive wasnt going to do a better job in florida given the Cuban vote.

Difficult to see what kind of candidate would be more popular across the board albeit i would like to see someone more progressive.

That's never what was going to happen. It'll be left v right, in the streets. The police will take a side but the army won't. Like the start of the Spanish civil war it will be cities v rural.

No two civil wars are ever the same, so it doesn't help to assume a certain model. It would be more like Northern Ireland, but much hotter.

Not too bothered who wins this, I’m not American after all.
Would be some laugh if Trump did again though. Proved all the experts wrong in 2016 and is on course to do it again.

Tempting to say this but who wins will affect how Trump imitators like Boris Johnson will behave.  It would be nice if Trump was the first of many to fall.

If anything Trump is a Boris imitator. Boris been a politician far longer than Trump has after all.
