Had to happen and it's surprising it took this long after the Finland game. The Euro qualification campaign was an abject failure and the squad was too good for those results. It always looked like things were never right after bevvygate in Paris.

There should be a decent list of candidates wanting to work with the players we have.

Bit of the Neil McCann's about her - good on the telly at breaking things down and analysing them, but not so hot at implementing it.

Maybe the comparison's a wee bit unfair on Kerr given she did have some success at Arsenal.

I don't think she ever really recovered from that incident in Paris, and not qualifying for the Euros from that group, with the players we have, was frankly not acceptable. She pretty much had to go.

Well she did take us to our first World Cup and had a string of impressive results. At the start of this campaign we were ranked 9th in Europe. She might be able to have success elsewhere but nothing seemed right after Paris, and tactics in the final big games against Finland and Portugal looked really wrong.

Really gutted for Shelley that it’s ended like this. Things seemed so great during that heady night in May v Jamaica when I was there to see the women in their last game before the WC. We should probably have taken at least a draw from the games v England and Japan. What happened v Argentina was inexcusable. I think after that “meeting” she probably lost the players. It was evident during the last 3 games that something wasn’t right. To have attacking options like Cuthbert, Little, Ross, Weir and even Lisa Evans, yet not score a single score was criminal. The Finland goal just summed things up. An absolute clusterfck in the same vein as losing 3 goals in 15 Mins to lowly Argentina

She’s utterly vacuous on TV, but that may be partly down to her accent.  Either way, she was shown up by her own pkayers and has consistently been out managed by more competent peers.  Not a loss at all.

You judge what people say by their accent? And you've got a downer on a working class Scottish accent?

I think her analysis as a pundit is good, easily better than most of the numpties we get. The set-up of the team through the World Cup qualifiers was spot-on, and I thought she got it right against England and Japan too.

Failure to make an obvious substitution is probably the single biggest cause of the collapse against Argentina though, and she could have been fired for gross misconduct for what followed. In these qualifiers she's been playing Cuthbert in a more withdrawn role, which is arguably her best position, but without a better goalscorer in front of her (as at Chelsea), we lacked a cutting edge. All three of Cuthbert, Little and Weir were played too deep and that's what made us easy to defend against.

Maybe we'll find out what was going on behind the scenes now, because in recent matches they haven't looked like a happy squad.

Probably end up at Glasgow City now.

I think that would be seen as a comedown. Going from Arsenal to Scotland manager (plus her senior men’s role). Glasgow City themselves seem to be on the wane. With 13 (iirc) league title and numerous trebles as well as reaching the latter stages of the  Champions League is there more that Kerr could add to what they already have with Booth?

Now that the Evil Twins are taking their women's teams seriously Glasgow City, sadly, will suffer. In the history of women's football they'll probably be seen as the Queen's Park.

Kerr seemed to be doing OK and actually the qualification campaign began OK but the dismal finish, with top players having chance after chance and not converting, suggested lack of confidence which is often a management problem.

Whoever comes in still has two dead qualifiers to see through. I do hope they decide, and make it clear, that any player who is invited to the Greater England TeamGeebee squad at the Olympics (if they happen) and accepts, never plays for Scotland again. All focus must be on getting the national team back on track.
