Felt like this one was quite tight and atritional and got to the point that it was just waiting for whoever made the first mistake. Then when you blocked the rook that was protecting your Bishop I snuck in. Round 2 The_kid1433 vs mackieboz - the kid defeats msckieboz by resignation. Sorry mate, I don't know why but I seem to save up every bit of good chess I got just for matches vs you. An interesting one this, I won a pawn in the opening and then managed to win a second when Invergowrie let things go a little bit loose and simplified too early. DearyMe beats AimHere by resignation Good game mate. For anyone reading I was extremely jammy to win that. The endgame meant I was playing for a draw where AimHere was playing for a win. I felt I had edged the opening (grunfeld exchange) which was largely theory for a good 10 moves or so but I made a horrific blunder myself as we entered the endgame by losing a whole rook. A classic mistake - not analysising all checks and captures! It was very back and forth as epitomised by the evaluation graph. I managed to get a lead in development and subsequently forced Maths' to move his king to stop him castling. Guest Posted May 8, 2023 Share Posted May 8, 2023 Division B, Round 2 - Basedgodsaint extends his winning record against Incoming Exile to six out of six, by checkmate after a long game that had plenty of talking points for the experts. One of which would be why IE never spotted a chance to capture BGS's queen fairly early on (only discovered this in game review). That was before BGS's clever move led to my own early queen surrender. Came back into it with a sort of half-decent rook move that captured his queen but in the end it was the pawn advantage what won it.
