Aim Here Posted April 26, 2023 Share Posted April 26, 2023 Cup quarter final result After some rash flinging away of pieces for dubious attacks by both sides, the game between AimHere and pleslie999 settled down into an extended rook and knight versus rook endgame, with the slowest king walk in history (20 moves to cross the board, because the king was lugging along an emotional support horsey to hide behind if the white rook got frisky). R+N vs R is, apparently, a draw with best play, and pleslie did, indeed, offer a draw, but I figured I'd make him prove it, since it looked like it might be a tricky draw to grind out for the horseless side, and I was seemingly proved right. Then in that last rapid game, incredible belief to play on when they had repeated twice. It was certainly exciting. We have two leagues of 12 players, with three returning players allocated to balance the leagues - two to division A (beef and Trogdor) and one to division B (Ziggy). Ziggy is perhaps a bit strong for the second tier, but he was the last to sign up, he did make the offer, the other two contenders would be equally out of place and everyone else in Division A earned the right to be there last season. We'll go with two automatic relegation/promotion slots and one playoff slot if the league structure stays the same.
