The reason he was caught so quickly was because he was caught twice on different buses cctv talking to her on the pavement with his car parked at the road.

He was on duty an hour before so while he was not in a poice car it is possible he used his warrant card to stop her

It was still impressive that they caught him and announced it so quickly, large organisations like police, NHS etc have a tendency to have 'cover it up' as their 1st reaction to anything deemed as really negative.

Looks like the police were operating a sunset curfew

Looks like they were breaking up an illegal gathering

Would have liked to have seen them do similar at ibrox but probably would have resulted in civil unrest

It was a vigil and, at a push, a peaceful protest against general male violence against women.

Just like almost every instance of "scuffles with the police" (as the BBC so delicately frames it), if they had stayed the f**k away last night, everyone would've gone home happy.

There was a protest outside the Scottish parliament the other week about mask wearing

Polis arrested everyone screwball who turned up

So now you have a situation where the police can arrest everyone at a gathering and nothing is said causes no stir, as it's due to one topic

But then another gathering about a different topic causes the chief of police being called to resign for them doing the same thing

Doesn't make any sense

The law doesn't state that protest about some subjects are ok and others aren't ok, obviously

There's thicker people than you on here. I just can't remember who they are just now.

A lot of people seem to be angry that Kieth Starmer isn't calling for Cressida Dick to resign.

There is obviously a lot of naivety about their relationship in regards to the killing of Jean Charles De Menzes. They are both rock solid UK establishment figures. You might as well ask Prince Charles to ask Prince Andrew to resign. Staggering naivety about how power functions in the UK.

There is obviously justification in the calls for the removal of the Commissioner of the Met, but you can't help feeling #CressidaOut might have been more appropriate at this time than #DickOut

I walked passed a recent anti-lockdown protest at Holyrood, not a single person was being arrested/manhandled by the police beside them, just allowed to get on with it.

Must have happened then

If you didn't see it as you were walking past

For people like Owen Jones it's just meant to be the authoritarian measures that don't impact him or his friends.

That's Britain, not just Owen Jones. Everyone else is "scum" except me who is the protagonist of life.

Reeks of Thin Blue Line attitude. They'd never admit it but I think they were so heavy handed because they see the prosecution of a police officer as an attack on all police.

There's been stories from America of the police just straight up not investigating crime because they're in the huff at BLM protest popularity.

Anecdotal, but certainly Chicago PD got even more noticeably useless than usual when Officer Van Dyke went on trial for the murder of Laquan McDonald.
