Everyone except them knew that it wasn't going to be a "one-year" thing. Just incredibly gullible, and even took that a step further by having a go at the other three leagues for their statement purely on the basis that their pal George had told them otherwise (falsely).

They have learned the hard way what it means to be strung along.

Anyone with a functioning brain could have told you this was never going to be a one-year thing. It’s a long-term plan to get these ‘B’ sides into the SPFL, which started by including them in the Challenge Cup.

The 11 sides who felt the bribe being offered was acceptable enough have no place in the pyramid tbh. Ambitionless diddies.

'the P&B crowd'

Hahahahaha

That diddy was responsible for one of the most condescending posts ive ever read on here, patting the wosl etc on the head and telling them that if they invest in their grounds then they too will get to reach the heady heights of being able to play Rangers reserves. Said without a hint of irony that his own club have never seemingly spent a penny on any ground anywhere. ‘The P&B crowd’ told them exactly how it would go and we were told ‘no no its ok Uncle George told us it wont happen’. Then to tweet a wee hurty feelings ‘statement’ (btw a podcast releasing a ‘statement’ is #staunch), looking to blame everyone else that they were led up the garden path. These boys would have fallen for regular wallet inspections in high school.

Anyway, yes the time has come for the eosl/wosl and south to come together and replace the lowland league, f**k them.

I’ve always believed one of the best things about football is that, at least in theory, you can go from pub league to Champions League or vice versa.

I never understood as a kid why the bottom team in the Third Division never got relegated. I followed English football where if you fail, you just keep getting relegated. It seemed unfair that non-league sides in Scotland were denied access unless someone went bust.

I was therefore excited when the Lowland League was formed and they began introducing play-offs to the SPFL. While the system was imperfect, these sides now had an opportunity to progress, while teams above had a smaller safety net. I strongly feel the bottom in side in League 2 should be automatically relegated but that’s for another day.

To see what the Lowland League has now become is extremely disheartening. Denying clubs entry to their league while gladly accepting bribes from the OF to let their youth teams compete.

They’ve made a division which should have improved Scottish football a total farce. It’s so disappointing and I’d sincerely hope the SPFL develop a backbone and remove the LL from the Pyramid.

Aye, get the LL to fuck.  It's full of clubs with chairmen and board members who will support one of Rangers or Celtic so will be spreading their hairy OAP crusty arsecheeks for their money and the opportunity to host the 'Old Firm'.

Get a new league formed with proper football clubs who actually have fans and a set up that is fit for tier 5 and higher.  Just look at some of the teams in the LL. If they went bust tomorrow about 7 people would give a fuck.  Get them fucked off out of the pyramid permanently.

The SPFL can't remove any league.

What can happen though is that the tier 6 leagues start discussions on what they can do to move this situation forward.  It's now clear that the LL will not significantly change it's pro/rel stance, at the most we'll get 1.5 spots (ie add a play-off with second bottom) as a next step but nobody knows when they next step will happen.  Relegating 2 clubs automatically could be 5+ years away if at all.

Would the SFA accept a rival tier 5 league? almost certainly not, but it would perhaps show them that the issue at hand needs dealing with.  They have already levered the Colts situation to get rid of the boundary, maybe they can lever it again for something more worthy this time to get increased pro-rel.  The LL will need to change their rules again I expect and get them rubber stamped by the SFA, pass them a crowbar.

The SPFL clubs can surely have a vote and say LL clubs won’t be eligible for entry?

Obtuse question - if the boundary is ditched, can Brechin come in and deny a team coming up due to being "full"?

I doubt there is a mechanism to switch between tier 5 leagues.  They could choose the LL if they got back to L2 and were relegated again I guess.

There is next to no chance of the SPFL doing anything here. The head honchos there love the idea of colts teams as much as the diddies in the Lowland League.

The only ones standing up to this will be the tier 6 clubs, and they’ll be roundly ignored. The pyramid is a mess already.

Doubt it. They are legally obligated on pro/rel with the tier 6 leagues and that can only be changed with agreement of all parties. Guest teams can't get promoted in terms of the rules that have been agreed so presumably entry by Brechin City for 2022-23 would have to be through application. That seems unlikely at this point because the only way a vacancy could have been generated would be if there were fewer than 18 clubs for next season because the LL Board have discretion to increase the number of clubs to 18 AFAIR. The return of the Old Firm colts means they appear to already be on the hook to run with 18 again.

In this case they were correct though, as the largest paragraph in that statement has been covered by the changes to the rules allowing the best non-B team to go to the play-off.

Edit: correct in terms of LL promotion, not in the one year deal.
