Fullerene
When Thatcher was in power, her cabinet included some really horrible people, including Thatcher herself. Watching Portillo doing all these train journeys nowadays, it is easy to forget what a nasty politician he actually was. However there were also a few MPs, who although still Tory, were a little bit more bearable and it might be possible to hear their side of the argument without feeling the need to switch off the TV or radio. The likes of Chris Patten, Michael Heseltine and even John Major spring to mind. Those sort of milder Tories have been booted out of the party and all that remains are the proven liars and "goad the left" provocateurs that make headlines by showing how low they can go.

Just goes to show that's it's not all black and white
carpetmonster
Maybe not one of Munya's strongest efforts (she's likely beyond parody to be fair to him) but chapeau for 'you can't spell starving without star'

Sherrif John Bunnell
The DUP are like a battered wife, deluding themselves into thinking that Braverman wasn't referring to Orange marches in her speech.
Granny Danger
If Sunak doesn’t sack Braverman over her latest stunt then she will do something just as provocative in the next couple of weeks. She wants to be a martyr and it’s just a matter of time before he’s forced to boot her out. The longer he waits the more his credibility suffers.

She's a nutter. TBF, if you added up exactly how many people are members of religions that practice institutional abuse, it wouldn't take long to realise you're in the minority. Being a Tory, she'll long ago have decided that, if it isn't happening to her, it's perfectly fine.
O'Kelly Isley III
Tomorrow is going to be interesting in Central London. It is to be hoped that peace reigns, and the democratic rights of the public are upheld. That will require that those marching register their individual and collective protest whilst maintaining tight discipline - in that way they will have made their point and importantly, the decision of the Met Police will have been vindicated. The situation at the Cenotaph may however be more of a concern. Whilst the patriotic thugs of the extreme right are extremely unlikely to disrupt any acts of remembrance, experience tells us that they will be only to happy to embrace violent confrontation and indeed may well actively seek it out. That won't happen at the Cenotaph but could well do afterwards; putting on a show of 'defence' for the readers of the Daily Mail and Daily Express if you like. The police will do well to stop any manufactured mayhem.

The peace march is going nowhere near the cenotaph so I'm sure the "football lads" will have nothing to defend plus it's not starting til 2 so all those with 3 o clock kick offs will need to leave early to make kick off

Fullerene
Instead of letting right wing thugs steal the show, they should hire some actors to dress up like Dad's Army and march over to the cenotaph to offer protection.
Granny Danger
Can’t wait to hear Braverman condemn the far-right c***s who attacked the police and were only there because they were encouraged by her comments.

But there are good people on both sides, why aren't you talking about the alt-left, etc. The media is absolutely dripping with anticipation that there's going to be some kind of violence this weekend. Just delighted that they might have something to bring the viewers/readers back in for a few days. What a shower of absolute ghouls.

btb
Strange bedfellows - I dread to think of what said "unnamed Sunderland fan" would be saying about Braverman in any other set of circumstances. Quote “She’s the only one making any sense at the minute. We’re sleepwalking into a race war,” said a middle-aged man who said he was a Sunderland fan but did not want to be named. “Armistice is our day!” he added.

Jedi2
The irony is still lost on Braverman that her own blue rinse brigade wouldn't actually vote for her in a leadership contest due to her ethnicity.
Silvio Tattiescone
Now they're coming for the sick and disabled. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67385385 Quote Ministers have drawn up large benefit changes for people who are unable to work due to health conditions, the BBC has learned. The changes, affecting hundreds of thousands of people from 2025, would save £4bn from the welfare budget. The proposals would see many more people forced to find work despite suffering from a range of physical and mental health conditions. They aren't a political party any more, they're an obscenity.
