welshbairn
Forensic my arse, Wings generally c&ps a bunch of often unrelated screenshots, interspersed with rants, and comes up with a conclusion that all his enemies are morons. That's it. Here's a Daily Record editorial on one of them, He's Bath's own Alex Jones. Quote THE vicious underbelly to the independence campaign was on display again in an unwarranted attack on an NHS nurse who happens to have appeared on a Labour leaflet. Suzanne Hunter is the latest victim of a campaign being waged on behalf of Scottish nationalism from Somerset, 300 miles away. She is not a Labour Party member or activist, just a decent woman who cares passionately about the NHS. The Wings Over Scotland website seized on Suzanne’s photograph and published it next to the casting profile of an actress, hinting that they may be the same person. The two women do not look like each other in any way, but the mere suggestion of being duped was enough to trigger a torrent of vile abuse against an innocent woman from unthinking cybernats. This brand of politics isn’t unique to Scotland, though it has no parallel in the rest of the UK. It has echoes of far-right US Republicanism that seeks to undermine anyone with an opposite view by inciting online mobs, hatred and vilification. This is a world of conspiracy theories, hatred and paranoia. This is a brand of nationalism that seeks to peddle falsehoods and unfounded allegations against anyone who isn’t a believer. It is nasty, sewage politics that debases public life. And yet the Wings Over Scotland is cited as an authoritative source by some leading SNP figures who really should know better. And here's his take on Hillsborough. http://wosland.podgamer.com/no-justice-for-the-96/ Edited May 15, 2022 by welshbairn

Given they are “about to get away with it”, it seems the screams were unjustified (again). The blog itself suggests they didn't "get away with it". The SNP "received no large donations in 2018". That sounds like an appropriate karmic response to treating major donors like idiots. Calling for a criminal prosecution comes across as desperate.
DeeTillEhDeh
The original fundraising does look a bit disingenuous from the SNP. But they were campaigning hard for a referendum at the time and the donation was clearly to them, so it's hard to see where any criminality has occurred. The later pledge to "freeze" funds looks like a panic reaction to realising that some donors thought they'd dontated to actually fight a referendum. Having already received the money though it's hard to see what the criminality could be here. It does make the party look dishonest. I suppose there is some mileage in a view that they'll have enough funds coming in from normal donations (c£5m pa) to cover half a million of a referendum campaign out of those donations and have a sort of ring fenced commitment to do that. That blog is very vague on details and the case for the prosecution ("some police think there may be a reason to interview") is as weak as piss. Maybe, to reach Tory levels of probity the SNP should start up a House of Lairds and start selling peerages to Non Doms for £2m a pop? When the key witness is Sean Clerkin then the case really doesn't have a leg to stand on.That's not saying that there isn't an issue - just not a criminal case to answer.

It was advertised as solely for an Independence campaign, not for general Snp expenditure. I donated to it on that understanding. Bit pissed off to see that it was spent on a coffee table and wallpaper.

Yours was spent on a big box of foxes biscuits for a meeting and a single day return from Waverley to Glasgow Central.

Be specific. https://murrayblackburnmackenzie.org/2021/09/10/gender-recognition-reform-are-womens-concerns-valid/ Quote Scotland is already experiencing a chilling effect on the use of the single-sex exceptions, with the rights of women and girls compromised across a range of policy areas, including hospital wards, prison accommodation, school facilities, and sport. Under a self-declaration model these are likely to deteriorate further, as the legal protections relied on by the First Minister are rendered increasingly unworkable. -

Try again.
