I like the idea of a Scotland United coalition. Ive always wanted an independent Scotland but never liked the snp/alba too many roasters in both parties. So some broader/bigger coalition  but even bigger and broader than just those 2 is more appealing to me. Ive already stated Im voting Labour next election as the SNP wont bring independence anytime soon on their own, they are incapable of it. A Scotland united would make me switch my vote though.

Totally disagree with the Labour part but totally agree with the rest. A "Scotland United Party" consisting of SNP, Alba, Greens, SSP and dare I say it, Labour Left should have been put in place by now to win it. Yes, they all might disagree on how an Independent Scotland might look but they are all in agreement that it needs to happen so should be working together for that imho. However, I remember when the socialist parties got together for RISE (Respect Independence Socialist Environment), it should have worked and it should have been a political juggernaut, but it fell at the first hurdle because people with differences just couldn't work together, so I fear this would be the same.

Wouldn't work as glib Soapy would be in their trying to outfox the rest.

That's the only benefit of a Labour government in Holyrood - they'd highlight just how much better off we currently are.

Although a quick glance at Labour run Wales would be a less painful way to do it.

I'm horrified at the thought that a London based party led by a leader who is vehemently against Scottish Independence would be governing Scotland.

it's wild folk would vote scottish labour to me.  I'd rather not vote than tick a box for that shower.

they haven't even attempted to be better.  Just hung around hoping people forgot how cringe they were previously.

They also support all the "wokey" things the greens support, or at least would be in a similar bind to the snp in that regard.

I'm politically homeless.  Probably just about SNP as overall they're maybe still the best of a bad bunch and we still have some better services.. re tuition fees, childcare hours increase, bus passes etc.  without independence they have maintained good policies with little credit and become embroiled in side shows about rubbish gimmicks.

If Alba built up a head of steam I'd maybe give them a vote on the list.

Ideally I'd actually quite like a green party that cares about the environment as its main focus.  But we seem to have a byres road mafia who are more interested in identity politics than the planet.

I know it’s a very tired cliche but things are going to get worse before they get better.

We’ve reached an inflection point in Scottish politics where the (probable) corruption of the SNP allied to some questionable policies and ineffective leadership at Holyrood means they will nosedive from the high point of just a few years ago and risk ending up level with Labour in terms of support.

It will take one or two terms of Tory Lite at Westminster to remind older voters why they ditched support for Labour in the first place and make younger voters see that the SNP and the fight for Independence is the only option.

Of course there will need to be an overhaul of leadership and a more disciplined approach to policy making and to the Party’s internal workings.  The MSM ignores the SNP at Westminster as much as they can but there appear to be some solid politicians there including Flynn.  Maybe a move from the U.K. Parliament to the Scottish one would not be a bad thing for some.

Yes, famously when loads of insane far-Left support groups get together a political juggernaut is the usual result.

Decent summary, that.

Not but that she was the cheerleader for one or two of those questionable policies, but a NIcola Sturgeon exonerated without a stain on her character and returning to frontline politics would be the best possible thing for the SNP. As a political performer, there's no one in any party, Holyrood or Westminster, who's even close.

And the look on Mad Wings NotRev Stu's seething goblin physog would be priceless.

However, even if she were to be cleared, I don't see that happening.

In actual fact, imagine if Sturgeon and Salmond both came back lol  that would set a cat among the pidgeons.

They were once in a generational politicians.  No wonder the rest look poor in comparison.

I don’t see Murrell getting cleared and for Sturgeon it would be guilt by association at best.

She was one of the most formidable political leaders I can recall and there is no-one on the horizon with the possible exception of Mhairi Black who could have been her match.

Each to their own, I like the lassie but I don't even think Black is in the same room.  Salmond and Sturgeon had a way with words and a diction and charm which chimed with all parts of Scotland.  Black is a student politician who can say things that matter to a select type only.  just my view.

Fair enough.  I’m not saying Mhairi Black is the finished article but recall what Nicola was like a couple of years before she became party leader.  She definitely grew into the role.

ETA  if Mhairi wasn’t standing down I’d definitely want her as Humza’s replacement.

So, despite thinking they're mostly absolute wallopers, with an unhealthy obsession with the trans community, I might have to use my next list vote on them

Unless, and hopefully so, someone can point me in a better direction?

Scrub that:

Mental isn't it?

After months of thinking they're a bunch of irrelevant oddballs the current Indy climate had me thinking I might give them a wee punt

24 hours later they're a bunch of irrelevant oddballs again.

Utter fannies.

For those who believed that the First Minister was politically naive in his handling of the Bute House agreement, I present Ash Regan, the "nationalist" who voted to oust a nationalist government.

Tens of thousands of potential "2nd vote Alba" voters may have switched back to "2nd vote Green".

Well done, Ash.
