The first episode to be aired was "The Man Trap" which included a monster that craved salt.  They bought some salt shakers for filming the episode but did not use them.

Those salt shakers would later be used as medical tricorders for the rest of the show.

More recycling/reuse…The PADDs, or Personal Access Display Devices, used by various officers throughout the run of Star Trek have been made up of myriad materials - but in the original series they were as low-tech as could be.

Rather than a working digital interface, the pads in TOS were composed of a small board covered with a Magic Slate. The slate had a 12-volt light placed over the front to give it a futuristic look.

Shatner was raging that they aired this first. They filmed "Where no man has gone before" first and it is far better.

Shatner had a clause in his contract that said his name had to be at least 25% larger than Leonard Nimoys  in the title sequence.

Yeah, but "where no man .." does not have the super cool transporter beam in that the producers loved unlike this one.

Some trivial issue wins the day.

Merry Christmas

There is less folk dieing  in the  Ukraine War everyday, than children under the age of 5 in Africa, or Asia. from lack of food and water.

Billions of Dollers have been sent, for sure that Putin c**t needs a hook, but even half the money would have saved those life's.

Merry Christmas to the West.

Mind you there are about half a billion children under the age of five in Africa and Asia which is about 25 times the population of Ukraine

He is on my subs bench, even though he is in his 90s now. Looks a bit too fit and healthy

Yea, I’m tapping him for my 2024 list, after I bounce back fro: a remarkably healthy 2022 with a deadly 2023.
