On a footballing theme, met Gordon Banks at a Florida resort a good few years ago (sadly, he’s now died).

Told me he was on the Pools Panel and one of his pals was a guy who started out at, I think Albion Rovers, and then became a legend in England?

Cant remember his name.

Tony Green?

Bernie Slaven?

I was in the Zuu nightclub in Aberdeen on my 21st Birthday. Kathy Lloyd was making a personal appearance. When she was answering questions from the crowd one of my mates pointed at me and said "It's his 21st". Kathy marched right across and kissed me on the cheek.

Bernie Slaven went to Middlesbrough, I think but it was in fact Tony Green he was referring to.

Well done.

Had a couple of bizarre experiences that have stuck with me. More like ‘famous people you never spoke to, but…’. Was in holiday in the USA and flew to Austin. Just arrived at the hotel, jetlagged to hell and back. Mrs Poz walked up to the check in desk, while I wheeled both suitcases and hand luggage towards a sofa area in the lobby. Arranged the cases neatly to the side of the sofa and sat down for a minute to draw breath. A bloke had walked in and sat down on the sofa directly opposite me. I looked up, it was Eddie Izzard. I just stared. Thinking ‘that’s Eddie Izzard’. Fcuk me. What the hell? Then almost immediately, his agent or whoever, came up, they shook hands and wandered away. I turn around, Mrs Poz has almost reached the front of the check-in queue. I wander over with our passports and stuff from the hand luggage…. ‘See when I was sitting there for a minute getting the passports out? Eddie Izzard came and sat on that sofa right in front of the cases there. Then he walked away’….

… ‘Aye, right. So he did’. Etc, etc.

’No, really!’ Etc, etc…

Then the next day we found he was playing a theatre in Austin and, thankfully, proved I wasn’t completely mental… just partly mental as usual.

The other one was Connor Newton, St Mirren’s 2013 League Cup final scoring hero, walking past me in a Las Vegas casino bar*

Eck when I was out on strike, pre fall from grace. He was sound but by all accounts I'm not his type.

Sat all night at the player of the year do with Andy Geggan  and Sean Murdoch which was nice as initially me and my dad would have been at a table on our own. The 2 of them had their partners with them are were really friendly.

Konnie Huq kissed me on the cheek when I was 4 when she was up visiting Up Helly Aa for Blue Peter.

I'm Canadian so we have different famous people, probably the most famous I have met was former Premier of Quebec Jean Charest.  He came to my school to talk and meet students and he clearly didn't want to be there.  I also have met a bunch of IndyCar racing drivers like Sebastien Bourdais, Justin Wilson (RIP) and Simona de Silvestro when I got Paddock Passes to the Indy Toronto

I recall the story of someone I know who was once walking in Toronto and encountered Pierre Trudeau, who at the time was Prime Minister of Canada.  Nobody seemed to be paying him too much attention.

On the other side of the street, a large crowd had gathered.  Comedian Frankie Howerd had been spotted and everybody was trying to get his autograph.

I am sure there is a moral to this story but I am not sure what it is.

Forgot - I was in the audience (about 6 folk behind the camera) on Soccer AM round about 1997.

Had breakfast in the green room with Helen Chamberlain, she was very nice, help us to our next destination in London. Mickey Thomas, funny guy, but loved the sound of his own voice. Tony MCCoy, never said much.  1 other person,(footballer, but can't remember).  Tim Lovejoy never had breakfast with us, he turned up late, then fucked off as soon as the show was over, seemed to be a bit of a c**t, and nobody liked him.  Not the cheeky chappy, he was portrayed.

Walked past Figo while on holiday in Vilamoura, he was getting mobbed by the locals. His wife/partner was also absolutely stunning!

Remember seeing Fran Sandaza in the Overgate Centre when he played for United.  He was an ugly c**t but his missus was stunning.

In my Uni days I spent a couple of years working in one of Glasgow's most "fashionable" shops. We had celebrities through the door fairly regularly and I served the like of the Gallagher brother (separately, Noel was nicer), Thom Yorke, bizzarely most of slipknot in one go, Robert Carlyle, Stephen Hendry as well as tonnes of Scottish footballers of the time. Every single one of them was somewhere between decent and very nice bar one person, Ian Wright. He was in his Celtic days at the time. He was the only person who ever brought a bodyguard in and refused to look at or speak to the staff. When I approached at one point to ask if he needed a hand, the bodyguard told me "If Mr Wright needs a hand you will be told he needs a hand" with his big paw on my chest. What an idiot. Outside of work my celebrity highlight is probably drunkenly arguing with the guy who plays Shellsuit Bob about the ATM queue he tried to jump  outside Strathclyde Uni circa 2003 😂

Edit to add: also completely forgot that while working said job all 3 of us working the shop floor one day were asked if we wanted to go on the Ubershite streetmate by Davina McCall as she was dashing about the general area asking folk randomly with her camera crew in tow, we all politely declined!

Exchanged pleasantries with Kevin Day, Jack Dee and Griff Rhys Jones in Embra at Fringe time, pub and post pub.

Met a Countdown lexicographer (before it was monopolised by Suzy Dent) in a club in Aberdeen. She was delighted to be recognised and said it hadn't happened before.

Got very stoned with Reginald D Hunter after a gig. Met him outside and he asked for a decent pub with a beer garden so I took him where I was going. He took out this big cigar that he'd drilled out and filled with dope. Tried to tease him a bit and he ripped me apart, never try banter with a pro, especially when you're stoned out of your box.
