No idea why some of the talking heads are claiming this Staley D is going to be all the rage for years to come. You look like a total clown when you set out to shut down the pass, but ignore the fact nobody has to throw on you in any case because they can totally overpower you at the LoS, run it straight up the gut for 5-6 yards on you any time they like and totally dominate ToP. Teams have played with a 5 man line and two high before, it didn't work back then, and it isn't working now. Last season's Rams D was a one year wonder. It's been totally figured out, and it's no coincidence both D's in LA look like complete garbage. Chargers have been completely clowned by any team that is half-way competent in running the ball. They gave up 42 points at home to a Browns team that wasn't even particularly bothered about throwing it down the field FFS! 'Revolutionary' indeed. A revolutionary level of idiotic shite. Both the rushing TD's we gave up to Baltimore sum up how laughable this D is. Both score completely untouched, the biggest laugher being a straightforward crash up the middle from about 25 yards out. Chargers are giving up 25+ points per game and still they persist with this shitshow of a concept. Scoring a game killing 40 yard TD on a 4th and 5 was particularly hilarious. Amazing the difference a couple of players can make, having a functioning run game was a huge plus. I've only seen the 10 minute highlights but from what I've read it seems Shanahan was a lot more aggressive than usual on 3rd and 4th downs. The Deebo TD reception you mention being a great example. Delighted that Nick Bosa seems to have come back well after his injury last season. I think he is only 1 sack off tying his rookie season total which is pretty good going.
