CONGRATULATIONS JUSTONECORNETTO!

He's been playing for as long as I've been running this and probably longer and finally, he gets a win. 766 points from 10 hits is some return. He beat's alta-pete's points record by just 6 points, so it's certainly been a year for the record books. Just don't follow it up with a year like Pete's and you'll be fine - @JustOneCornetto

In second place is @Indale Winton, another long-term player who puts in a fantastic performance that I would be absolutely furious to not win with. Better luck next year chief.

I'd tag Bishop Briggs but I can't. He was in the lead for months then Pele ruined it all. I have no idea if he's back or not, but it was still a great year from a former winner.

As ever, my thanks and apologies to everyone else playing this year. I feel as if I've not made too many mistakes or misses this year, but I await Aim Here correcting me in a few minutes. From my point of view, we're never going to have a year where Pele and The Pope die in the final week of the year, so it's never going to be this busy to close out the game again. 

If you're playing in 2023 then good luck, if you're gone then hurry back, and if you forgot then... where are your priorities, really?

Just had a look through that final spreadsheet - is it normal for none of the hits to have popped their clogs due to unnatural causes? We’ve had Peaches Geldof, Whitney Houston and Philip Seymour Hoffman in years gone by - any more?

I think Caroline Flack was the last one. There are usually some interesting picks made with the expectations of murder but they don't really pan out.

I upped the points for an Unnatural Causes bonus this year, we'll see if it pans out.

I finished 67th which ended up better than I was expecting for much of the year. In Scottish football terms with 40 odd pro senior teams I think that would equate to a reasonably ranked junior team so there I am.

I debated picking a few random Ukrainian sportsmen who have returned to fight on the front line in the hope of unnatural causes and solo shots. Former Arsenal footballer Oleg Luzhnyi and tennis journeyman Sergiy Stakhovsky both made my long lists. 
 

 

Ultimately decided taking the sure fire points of MND and stage 4 cancer sufferers was the better way to go.
