Its going to be a long long day.....up for the mens final and possibly stay up for the 1.05am start in the womens - may try and get some sleep first and set my alarm for 1am....think todays semi was a three hour job..

The whole curling tournament has been absolutely enthralling.  I really enjoyed the mixed doubles but it was not to be for Bruce and Jen (they must be knackered) The men always looked good enough to make the final after winning the Euros undefeated.  The women...wow what a rollercoaster...poor start...back in it...oh shit not looking great...good win V Russia then the nailbiting watching other results.....then the most incredible semi-final.

This could be one of Scottish sports best days

Just an idea, but I think it’d be lovely if Ross Whyte and Milli Smith were picked to be the flag bearers at the closing ceremony. It can’t have been easy having to watch from the sidelines throughout the competition but being an alternate is an important role, you need to be ready to go at a moment’s notice if there’s suddenly an injury or something. They’ve earned these medals as much as the rest of the team have and they deserve to bask in the glory.

Predictions for the finals then? The men surely must be favourites.

Paddy Power have the men as very slight favourites at 4/5 with Sweden at 10/11. Too close to call really. Edin is the best male curler of all time with 5 world titles and a bunch of Europeans championships. But his Olympic record reads 4th in 2010, Bronze in 2014, Silver in 2018.

Mouat’s team are the current world number 1 and they could well dominate the game for the next decade given that Edin is at the tail end of his career, the better Canadian teams aren’t getting any younger and the Far Eastern men’s teams are yet to ascend to the level of the women in Korea/Japan.

All time head to head is 12-10 Edin but he won 10 of the first 14 meetings. Mouat has won 6 of the last 8 including the last 3 in a row.

PP have the women a slightly hotter favourite at 4/7 with Japan at 13/10. Muirhead has the head to head advantage 13-11 over Fujisawa, including a win in the round robin and one in December’s Olympic qualifiers, but Fujisawa defeated Muirhead to win bronze medal at the last Olympics.
