Russian invasion of Ukraine

Not that "draft dodging" wouldn't occur in the west...

Seen that, due to the SMO, most of the forces are assigned to the Donetsk and Luhansk occupied states, with conscripts being commanded by local DPR/LPR officers who see them as cannon-fodder.

Conscripts not happy with situation...

So funny that people act like him not fighting in a racist, genocidal war is something to have a go at him about. He might not have done it for the right reasons but it was the morally correct thing to do.

Your last sentence is oxymoronic.

It’s not. Obviously, he had the means of avoiding the draft which others didn’t, but the fact he avoided it isn’t something to criticise him for.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a moral stance he dodged it for.  Had he taken a similar stance as Muhammad Ali you could have a point but decided in a more scurrilous route to avoiding being called up.

I'll have a go at whom I please, Trump being low hanging fruit on the Cunttree doesn't give him a pass.

There’s nothing to suggest it wasn’t a moral stance, and like I said dodging the draft for Vietnam was the correct thing to do. Of course I have a lot more respect for those that risked being imprisoned for dodging the draft than Trump.

Anyway, the main point was about those that use this as a stick to beat Trump with. It wasn’t uncommon to see Democrats say this in 2016 and then during his presidency. It totally undermines the entire point that the Vietnam war was totally illegal and the worst crimes against humanity since WW2 were committed by the US during it.

Have a go at Trump as much as you want, but if you’re going to go with “Trump was a pussy for dodging the draft” line of criticism instead of the literally hundreds of other things to actually criticise him for then you should be rightly called out.

One of the propagandists on Russian TV constantly exhorts young Russian men to do their duty and enlist to fight. Meanwhile, his son is conveniently in London working as a male model.

Solovyov's reaction came after he has repeatedly advocated for young Russians to join the fight in Ukraine. He has encouraged every able-bodied Russian male to join the army, and on Monday, the day before he addressed allegations about his son, said on his show that every young Russian male should help the war effort as part of their patriotic duty

The fact he didn't come out with the moral argument but found a doctor that would prevent a call up strongly suggests it wasn't a moral stance at all.

Aye but this was the comment:

It's not making the "Trump was a pussy" argument.

Trump had wealthy parents who could pay for him to avoid the draft by bribing a doctor. For many of the American men sent to Vietnam, they didn't have anywhere near the wealth needed to do that. This aligns with the point in the tweet Jagfox linked above. That fighting and dying for empire is a burden placed on those with the least despite all the benefits of empire only flowing to those with the most.

I acknowledged this in one of the posts above and never disputed what jagfox posted.

Also, Criticism of Trumps avoidance of the draft invariably misses the point. If the US hadn’t gotten involved in the first place there would have been no unequal draft system with loopholes that allowed those who were wealthy to avoid it.

But Trump WAS a pussy for for not refusing the draft versus buying his way out of it. Especially as he’s also on record as saying he feels bad about not going to Vietnam and was in a military prep school before buying his way out. Then add disparaging the war dead and POW’s, and there you have it. Don’t have a go at Trump is a strange hill to defend. In his privileged position, he could have spoken out about the war, against it and the draft with near impunity.

More nonsense from yourself.

You seem to be doing your best to avoid the main point. This isn’t about just the actions of certain individuals, it’s about the entire US government apparatus. Avoiding the fact the entire US apparatus is totally corrupt seems to be quite a common tactic of blue MAGA types that also call Trump a pussy for avoiding the draft.
