The Big Queen's Park FC Thread

Recommended Posts

The big Hampden experience was always a soulless affair, made even worse now by the added security search process.

Lesser has it obvious drawbacks,  however it did provide the opportunity of a connection between player and fan.

Something our young team need and would benefit from.

Am at the point of deciding to attend away games only and hand over my cash to those clubs putting in an effort to make fans feel welcome.

I decided to do that very thing last season and stuck to it. This season I won two season tickets in a Cinch competition so will use them as I see fit. I will not give a penny piece extra to the club for merchandise, refreshment, hospitality, etc until Dempster, Beuker, and Hunter are removed. These people are now so slowly killing our club. I look forward to away games.

It is good to be back in the Southside but I agree the Big Hampden experience is a bit souless. Imagine if we kept to the original Lesser Hampden capacity of 1700. The place would have been bouncing. Still too small but it would have created a much more positive vibe for fans.

AGM nominations coming up.

“Nominations required for the President, The Treasurer, four 2-year terms for Members of the General Committee and one 1-year term for Member of the General Committee.”

Usual suspects?

Unless someone else puts themselves forward, then the Continuity Candidate will succeed.

I'm sure the Continuity Candidate will succeed even if Jesus with a big bucket of water turned up. I recall clearly at one of the pre-vote Member meetings in 2019 the then President introducing the current President to speak to the room and announcing him as the "President Designate". At least seven months, or more, before the next vote was due and five months before candidates were invited.

Looks a credible source

Aye there seems to be numerous links on Twitter the last hour suggesting that Beuker is a wanted man by Ajax.

Granted I haven’t been too enamoured by this years recruitment but this would be pretty disastrous if he patched the club mid season from a much wider perspective. The entire club is being shaped in his direction short term and long term. What’s the general consensus if he does indeed go? Does Veldman chuck it also?

If he is offered this job, then he'll take it, and I wouldn't blame him - he'd be daft not to. But I've really no idea where it would leave us. Would we try and bring in a like for like replacement or abandon the whole concept altogether?

Anyway, any negotiations surely have to include a clause that he takes Veldman with him to Ajax. Even if it's just as a janny.

Getting picked up everywhere now and according to the reports Beuker is keen to talk to Ajax. Not sure he can turn them down but then why agree to a 10 year contract.

Security. You look after yourself when you’re signing a contract. He’ll definitely go if it’s offered. Ajax are huge in their own right, but if you grow your reputation there you’ve a good chance at ending up at one of the real top tier Champions League clubs.

Can't honestly say I will be crying tears if he goes. I felt his appointment was unrealistic and suspicious from the start. Veldman must go too, though. Dempster would make the complete package. Time would heal the short term mess.

It would be a natural break to look at what’s working and what isn’t. Any sensible organisation would have rolling contingency plans as to what happens if people in key roles leave, rather than just react to it when it does.

We’ll either do something like that or promote from within and carry on, business as usual. It all comes back to the accountability question, though. Who decides? We all have our suspicions on that one, I’m sure.

I will be disappointed if he goes. I bought in to the project. His appointment meant that we still stood for something. If Queens Park is to have any kind of future it's got to be about developing talent and about acting and playing differently - even if that doesn't always result in victory. We are not going to attract a large fan base from scratch. Promotion to the Premier League would have compromised that underlying ambition so I was not as disappointed as some when that didn't happen. I'm worried now what happens. Do we just become another run of the mill Scottish team draining our benefactor's bank account until he gets bored? I hope that if Beuker goes the plan stays in place and we keep trying to do what we are trying to do on and off the pitch.
