Delighted to see Savoury sign up again. He’s definitely in the bracket of a ‘game changer’ at this level. For me, he was the best attacking midfielder in the championship in 22-23 before his ACL injury. Whether he returns to those levels remains to be seen but it’s great that he’s back in time to get a full pre season under his belt. Could be the difference between a bottom half finish and reaching the promotion play offs if he’s back to his best

Maybe we are raiding out of contract St Johnston players?  Liam Gordon,  a centre back, is apparently out of contract. Don't know much about him though.

You think you'll be signing our first choice CB and captain, whos a born and bred St Johnstone fan, for nothing?

FWIW hes apparently got offers from us and from English League One/Two sides.

If you're looking at our cast offs then Brown/Gallacher/Considine/Crawford seem the only ones. Cammy Ballantyne maybe but I doubt he'd join you, and will go somewhere where he'll get first choice football promised and that promise not broken.

3 years into mine, just got pumped 8-0 over two legs off spurs, including 5-0 at Hampden. Good to know I'm but a year away from glory

Err...if he is out of contract then yes. I appreciate we might not be the first team on his list of prospective employers but we are not without ambition 🙂

We were linked but no idea if it was just paper talk but did McKinstry sign a new deal with you guys

Been offered one, which probably came as a surprise to most of us, but no news yet.

You Might even have offered him one simply because you know any other club interested will have to pay you guys a development fee now

That's a decent shout, believe we'd be owed a season's worth of development fees as he's still under 23 assuming the new deal we offered is at least equal to what he was previously on.

To put it politely, I think it would take a significant improvement for him to even begin looking like an average Championship level player. Not impossible, but re-signing him wouldn't be particularly high up on my list of priorities for the summer.

Have to feel we’re missing a few tricks in the market so far.

Cammy Ballantyne would’ve made an excellent addition at RB- a problem position I recent years.

Hopefully the club begin to announce movement soon.

Don't know how many of you were at the supporters' association meeting yesterday, but for those that couldn't attend there was some very interesting stuff said. I'll try to summarise:

Danny ferry was there, talked about his time at queen's and what he likes about the club etc. Commented on the fact that playing at Hampden was his main motivation for playing, and that qp players should always have that mentality.

There was a guy from the foundation talking about what they do, all seems very positive. There's a potential they'll do something with the sports centre at holyrood, as currently it's shut apparently (I wouldn't know, being lazy)

Possibly most interesting, our glorious leader Graeme Shields was there, and he did have some pretty good news: supposedly there are 2 players from other clubs who are already signed but they need confirmation to announce them, and there's one player who's almost resigned but not quite yet. Director of football is the position I suggested it could be in a previous post, where Darren will act almost as an agent of the club. Davidson says "I want players xyz", it is then the DoF's job to acquire those players. I think this is good news. He also said they are trying to work on the lesser Hampden situation because they appreciate it's not good enough, and that they'll hopefully have an update by the AGM in December.

Anyone who was there please add in anything I've missed

I would assume Jack wills is one of those signings given they've just announced him

Helpful update, thanks.  Sounds quite promising.

Having a decent backup keeper is important, but I can't help but feel like a lot of realistic targets who are tried and tested at this level are just passing us by. Obviously I don't know whether we've made any attempts to sign guys that haven't worked out, but I'm fairly concerned by the lack of movement at this stage; hopefully we don't end up relying on a load of unknowns from academies down south again.

Could be worse. Falkirk signed Sneddon...

Looking forward to our semi-disgruntled St Johnstone fan's assessment of bringing in Steven MacLean... 😂

He wasn't very complimentary about Davidson after replacing him, so I'm more surprised they're working together again more than anything.

There were a few rumours he's "aggressive" on the training pitch too, and fell out with players easily. His final interview as our manager probably gave an insight into things there.

But again, maybe he's learned from mistakes and his time away from the game.

Assuming Craig was on a similar contract length as Davidson.  Anyone know if we would we be due some kind of compensation from Hibs ....... or does that just apply to players?
